Campfire

tonight everyone was going to a campfire, they do it every year but this is the first time el is able to go because she had to stay hidden for a whole year. joyce and mike were still bringing food and blankets over to the campfire and the boys, max and el were waiting for everyone else to attend.

mike and joyce were finished bringing the supplies and mike walked over to el. he pulled her onto his lap and kissed her temple. "i love you," he whispered in her ear and she blushed. "i love you too, mikey," she replied, leaning her head on his chest.

"lucas, hand me a blanket?" mike asked and lucas shook his head, "get it yourself, there not even close to me," lucas scoffed and rolled his eyes. mike motioned to a sleepy el and lucas sighed and stood up in defeat. "fine," he said and handed mike a blanket. mike wrapped the fuzzy cloth over the two and el cuddled closer to mike and smiled to herself.

it was time to make s'mores but el was asleep. mike knew she couldn't miss making s'mores so he woke her up by planting kisses all over her face. "wake up, darling," mike cooed and she yawned. "why are you waking me up?" el asked mike and he motioned to everyone getting marshmallows out and hanging them over the hot flames with a stick. el shot up nearly cracking mike's bones and he groaned. "oops, sorry," she laughed and planted a sweet kiss on his lips.

el grabbed a marshmallow and placed it on her stick and hovered it over the fire. "ouch!" el yelped and stepped away from the fire and mike rushed towards her. "baby, are you okay?" mike asked and she was too caught up in inspecting her hand for burns. "did you get burnt?" mike yelled and she shook her head, "i don't think so," el showed mike her hand and he grabbed it and kissed the top of it, "you're okay," mike reassured el and hugged her and she welcomed the embrace. mike rested his chin on top of els head when he heard someone. "lovebirds, are you gonna eat?" dustin laughed at his own joke and they nodded.

they finished eating and now everyone was around the campfire talking and telling stories and el started to drift off to sleep. after a few minutes of trying to stay awake she crashed out and was lightly snoring. mike kissed her temple and snaked his arms tighter around her.

"i'm gonna take el home," mike whispered and joyce nodded and mike walked down the hill to the byers home.

mike placed el in her bedroom and when he was leaving he heard a whisper, "stay?" el asked and he nodded, "okay, only for a little though," mike told her but he ended up falling asleep as well.

they boys went looking for mike and they were walking down the byers driveway. "they're probably making out," dustin remarked and will scrunched his nose, "dude, that's my sister," will rolled his eyes as they began to walk down the hill. they opened the front door and will led them to els room. they opened the door to see mike and el welcoming each others embrace, curled up against each other. will smiled and walked into els room a little deeper and grabbed her polaroid camera she had gotten for christmas and snapped a picture of the two. he set the picture on els nightstand and walked out of the room.
