Anime: Yuri!!! On Ice
Characters: Yuri and Victor
Yuri finishes breathless, beads of swear trickling down his forehead and a smile plastered on his face. The whooping crowds don't sway his attention as he looks back to where Victor is stood, wobbling slightly after his performance.
Victor's emotions seem unclear as gloved hands cover his face. With shaking shoulders, the new coach lifts his head up, returning Yuri's smile with one of equal happiness.
And then he's running the length of the ice rink to the opening. Yuri watches as he goes and skates towards his friend.
"Victor!" He cries triumphantly, "I did great right?"
Victor closes his eyes briefly and then nods, another smile playing on his lips. And then suddenly he's right in front of a Yuri, his hands wrapped around the former's neck.
Yuri's eyes widen in surprise as they are sent flying backwards by the unexpected force of Victor throwing himself at the skater. Victor's lips brush Yuri's hesitantly at first but then push against them softly.
It's over before Yuri can even begin to comprehend what has happened, the crowd's yelling and excited screams reverberating in his ears.
"That was the only think I could think of, to surprise you more than you've surprised me."
Victor's voice reaches Yuri's ears as almost a whisper and yet it seems to be the only thing he can hear in the room. Everyone else disappears and he is left with eyes for only Victor.
The announcer sounds loudly over the intercom, getting ready to deliver scores. The two stand up, hands firmly linked together.
They can talk about this later when the competitors have finished for the day but for now they'll enjoy what they have.
And who knows, maybe what they have could turn into something big.
