Film Series: Pirates of the Caribbean (this isn't set during a particular film btw so you can decide which one you want it to be in)
Characters: Jack Sparrow, Crew of the Black Pearl, an OC (Elpis Fiddick) and I do mention someone called Griphook which is a name I borrowed from the Harry Potter series 😂 (as well as the name of the ship)

Typical. Grey skies and choppy waters. And just when he'd been planning to set sail.

Jack Sparrow (or rather, Captain Jack Sparrow) scowled and kicked a small stone down the pier and towards the sea with the toe of his boot, watching as it skipped and bounced along the wooden planks before dropping cleanly off into the water below.

The Black Pearl was anchored in all her majesty by the quayside, crew members milling about deck and staring distastefully as clouds settled above them and a hard wind began to blow.

Jack rolled his eyes but did not let the foul weather dampen his mood. Instead, he sauntered up to his ship and climbed aboard, coughing sharply to grab his crew's attention.

"Alright lads we need to make a decision and we need to make it before I become sober because there is no way in Hell I'd suggest this if I was, which is why I'm suggesting it now. Either we wait for the bloody storm to pass and waste time, or we say to Hell with it and set sail anyway. What do ya say?"

This type of speech wasn't uncommon, as Jack and his crew constantly found themselves making the most awful decisions possible, and then managing to make them worse. A talent among pirates.

True to their ways, the whole crew cheered at the mention of doing something reckless and set about making last minutes checks before they left.

Jack on the other hand, pulled out his compass and watched the arrow spin round rapidly before coming to an abrupt halt. So be it.

"Okay you scurvy lot, all hands on deck and all that yada yada. Savvy?"

And with that final rousing speech, The Black Pearl moved away from the quay and out to sea, the dark clouds still looming above them.

If there was one thing you should never underestimate, Jack mused, it's the determination of a crew on a ship smaller than yours. Of course, had he known this beforehand then perhaps they'd have never gotten into this mess in the first place. Regrettably, he hadn't known this, which was why he found himself nose to nose with a pirate who had only moments earlier tied him to the ship's mast. The rest of the crew were in similar situations.

"Well I must say this risk was not calculated."

The leering pirate held up a dagger to Jack's neck, a warning that he should speak no more.

"Enough Griphook. Let me talk to him."

'Griphook' turned, nodded, and backed away, leaving Jack a chance to look at the person who'd spoken.

"Ah, hello, and who's boat might we owe the pleasure to be tied up on?"

The Captain sneered at Jack but then gestured around at the deck, pointing out small sculptures that were hard to see at first glance.

"Welcome to The Basilisk, and, as much as we've enjoyed your visit, you won't be staying."

"Yes I was rather fearing that would be the outcome." He muttered, pulling a face at the choppy water below him that he'd no doubt be having an up close encounter with before the day was out.

"No matter." Jack exclaimed, appearing for all the world as though he wasn't tied up on someone else's boat. "What I'd really like to know is, who might you be?"

The Captain frowned but then removed the scarf from around their neck, allowing to fall onto the ship's deck. There, stood before Captain Jack Sparrow, was a woman with a glare powerful enough to make anyone do her bidding.

She smirked at his rather confused expression and then gestured once again to the ship they were stood on and then to herself.

"Like I said, this is The Basilisk and I am Captain Elpis Fiddick. Who might you be?"

The Captain of The Black Pearl gulped visibly and sent a sideways glance to his crew who were doing their best impression of people who'd never seen the man in front of them before

Jack cleared his throat sharply, puffing his chest out a little.

"I, Miss Fiddick, am Captain Jack Sparrow and I must say this is all rather uncalled for. Me and the crew were not looking for trouble." 'The crew', as Jack had so called them, scoffed at this and glared as fiercely as they could in his direction. He coughed again.

"Well, we weren't looking for trouble so early on in our-" he paused, "-voyage. And we of course don't want to bother you so if you'll allow us to be on our way we shall do so."

In an instant Elpis has unsheathed her sword and held it dangerously close to Jack's throat. He breathed in sharply but tried to stay composed. Or at least as composed as he could in the circumstances.

"Righty then. I guess we'll just stay here."
