Sunday went by slow and Monday came before I knew it.
My brother took me to school and I was sad to find that Summer wasn't at school.
I walked to my classes alone and sat in the back not paying attention. When lunch came around I sat with my loner group. They asked me where Summer was and I told them I didn't know.
Once lunch was over I went to my English class and sat in the back. A piece of paper was thrown at my head. I turned to my left and looked at Brad. His glare was harsh and serious. Well at least I wasn't invisible and I found out it was Brad I must have been with not Brent.
The wrinkled teacher Mrs. Páter made us read silently in class our assigned book which we had to do an essay on after class was over.
Brad kept ripping up pieces of his book and throwing it at me when the teacher wasn't looking.
I ignored him.
After class I walked to my locker and Brad was right behind me.
"Hey Virgin!" he yelled causing everyone in the hallway to stop and look at me,"Give this message to your brother."
Before I could do anything he punched me right in the eye. I fell to the floor grabbing my face.
No one bothered to help me up. I slowly got up on my own and saw out of one eye a bunch of people whispering and staring at me. I walked to the nurses and she called my mom to get me. The whole ride home was awkward.
"Phoebe why won't you just tell me what happened!"
I didn't say anything.
"I'm going to call your father!"
Her pleas slowly drowned out and I stared outside the car window watching the blur of buildings go by.
At the house my mother put an ice pack to my face and ran around frantically. She ended up calling my dad after all.
"James she won't talk. The nurse wants her to stay home for a few days since she doesn't know exactly what happened. Her brother might know something, but he's at baseball practice. No, you don't need to come home. She still doesn't know about you know what. Okay, I'll see you in two weeks, bye."
My mom ran a hand through her wavy golden hair. I noticed dark circles rimmed under her blue eyes.
"Phoebe, do you want anything to eat before I get changed for work?"
I shook my head. She did a long sigh and went upstairs.
When I heard my brothers truck pull up to the house I ran into my room and locked the door. I heard my mother tell him what happened. He must have dropped his baseball stuff on the floor because I heard his bats rattle loudly. He then trudged up the stairs knocking on my door.
"Phoebe let me in."
"Phoebe!"
I started crying and I think he heard me because his voice softened.
"Pheebs please let me in."
I hesitated on opening the door. Kaleb has always been a good brother helping out since my dad is always out of town, but at school he pretends like I don't exist. I feel out of the loop. He doesn't deserve to see my face. I climbed in my bed and pulled the covers over my face.

In the morning when my brother went to school and my mom was sleeping in her room. I got dressed and put as much concealer on as I could over my face. My eye was swollen shut, but it didn't hurt like it did yesterday it just looked worse. Sadly, I didn't have my license yet so I hoped on my bike and rode to Summer's house. She lived close to me so thankfully the bike ride was only about thirty minutes.
