Chapter 8

It's been three days since I've talked to Grant, the longest three days of my life.  We haven't made any contact, he wont even look at me.  If he wants to be a baby then fine, but I'm not caving first.  He'll be crawling back to me in no time.

I'm currently standing at my locker pretending to listen to whatever Lily is saying to me, but really I'm keeping a close eye on Grant and that slut he has all over.  Her arms are wrapped around his waist, while he talks to some other guys.  I can feel my wolf start to get mad, but I have to keep her down.  I'm broken out of my trance by Lily.

"Hello? Hello are you listening to me?!" She asks giving me a light shove.  I shake my head and give her a apologetic look.

"I'm sorry, what were you saying?"

She rolls her eyes at me, but looks over at Grant too.

"Still not talking I see." She comments.

"Nope, still not talking.  He's just as stubborn as me and doesn't want to be the one who cracks first." I say while slamming my locker shut.  I look back over in his direction, but see him walking away with that girl.

"I don't see how you're doing it. I can't even stand not talking to Matt for a few hours, I can't imagine not talking to him for a few days."

"Yeah well its no cake walk let me tell you." I say as we make our way to class.

"Then why don't you guys just apologize and make up?" She questions giving me a confused look.

"I've already apologized Lily! He wouldn't listen, so now we're stuck like this." I sigh getting frustrated.  I've been a little edgy ever since I stopped talking to Grant.

"Well it'll get better girl, he just needs time to cool down."

"Yeah and bang every slut he can." I say jealously. How dare any other girl touch him, he's mine!

"You know he wouldn't do that." I just roll my eyes at her comment and head into class.  I look around for Grant, but don't see him.  Must be off with that girl.  I sit through the entire class wondering where Grant is because he never showed up for class.  

When the bell rang I got up and walked to my locker.  I caught Grants scent and looked around for him.  I see him, yet again, with another girl.  Great.  I watch them as she laughs at whatever he just said and clings to him desperately.  How pathetic is she?  Grant looks at me and we make eye contact for less then a second, before he looks away.  I can feel my wolf get a little sad because he ignored us.  Well if he can be with girls then he wont mind if I'm with some guys.

I look around and spot Caleb at his locker a few away from mine.  I shut my locker and walk up to him casually.

"Hey!" I say happily, or as happy as I could.  At first he gives me a weird look, but then smiles back.

"Hey, how are you?"

"Oh I'm good, how are you today?" I ask politely.

"I'm pretty good myself, aren't you going to get in trouble for talking to me?" He questions looking over to Grant.

"Nope I wont!" I say back.  I notice Grant looking at us so I keep talking "Grant and I aren't together anymore." I say loud enough for Grant to hear.  Caleb gives me a surprised look.

"Oh really?"

"Yeah really, so I'm free to do whatever I want." I say flirtatiously.  I can hear a tiny growl come from Grants throat and I smile to myself.  Time to see just how mad I can get him.

"Wanna go somewhere? We can skip class." I ask Caleb moving closer to him.  He gives me a cute smile and moves closer as well.

"Yeah sounds good to me." He goes to grab my hand, but is quickly ripped away from me.

"Don't you dare touch her!" Grant growls at him.

Caleb looks between us not sure on what to do, so I step in for him.

"Grant move, we're leaving." I say trying to get around him to go with Caleb.  He turns and glares at me.  I can feel myself weaken because of how close he is to me.  We haven't been this close in days.

"You're not going anywhere with him!" He yells even louder.  I notice a small crowd is forming around us.  Nosy people mind your own business.

"And why not?" I yell back.

"Because you're mine that's why! I will not let you go with him to do who knows what!"

"But it's okay for you to have tons of girls hanging from your arm? Yeah I don't think so!"  He remains quiet so I know I've won this argument.

"Let's go Caleb." I say pushing past Grant and grabbing Caleb's hand.  We make it outside and go to sit in my car.

"So wanna tell me what all this is about?" He asks once we're all settled.

"What do you mean?" I question.

"I know what you're trying to do Zoey, you're trying to make him jealous." He says looking at me.

"No I'm not." I say denying it, but he doesn't look to convinced.

"Yes you are, just let me in on your plan and I'll help you okay? I don't want you playing me Zoey, so pretending that you want to go somewhere with me doesn't help at all."

I sigh before talking.  I guess he's right.  It's not fair to play with his emotions knowing how he feels about me, or might feel about me.

"Alright." I take a deep breath "I just wanted Grant to feel what I've been feeling these last few days.  Every time I see him he's with a new girl.  It's killing me, so i thought that maybe if he saw me with you that he'd feel the pain I do."

Caleb nods his head so I continue talking.

"So I was thinking that maybe you could help me you know? Like pretend we're together or something and then Grant will realize that he needs me."

"Alright I'll help you." Caleb says.

"Really?"

"Of course, you're my friend. Plus I wont have to pretend to like you." He says looking in my eyes.  I'm about to respond back, but he cuts me off.

"I know you don't like me like that Zoey, I get it.  Grant is your mate and theres nothing I can do about that."

I give him a small smile.

"But if Grant doesn't realize that he needs you then he's crazy."

"I know I know. He's just upset right now. He said he never wanted a mate, but then I came along and everything changed."

"Well you'll have your mate back in no time, no worries.  he obviously cares about you with the way he acted back there. He wanted to rip my head off." He says laughing slightly.  i give him another smile and pull him into a hug.

"Thank you Caleb." We pull back and smile at each other.

We spend the rest of the time thinking of ways to get Grant to realize his feelings.  I really miss him so hopefully we'll be back together soon.  If not I'll probably die.
