As we got closer to the table, and to Mitchum, Shira, and the blonde, I looked at Logan, who wouldn't even look at me, and then Honor was whispering. "It's Odette, and nobody knows why she is even here." Well that explains the look on Logan's face now.
We arrived at the table, Shira got up, gave Honor and I a hug. (Being totally fake, obviously.) We sat down at the table, and nobody had said a word, until Shira had spoke to Logan. "Son, Odette here has come to us, wanting to rejoin with you, and to continue with your engagement to each other. She doesn't care what you have or haven't done, or what you continue to do. She just wants to be married to you." I couldn't believe my ears.
"Mom, this is enough! I've already broken it off with her over a month ago. Rory and I are expecting our first baby, and we are getting married. I am finally back with the woman I am supposed to be with, and should have been with, the last ten years. It just took us time apart to realize how much we truly did love each other. I plan on never leaving again..."
"Shira, I never plan on leaving your son again. You can either hate me or love me, at this point I really do not care. The only one that I cared that loved me, is your son. And at this point I'll tell you the same thing I told my mom over the past few days, and will continue to tell her as long as I have to. You can either support our relationship, or not. The choice is yours, but if you choose the latter, you will not be involved with your grandchild, at all." I looked at her, and then looked to Logan. Logan smiled at me.
"She's right, mother. That is the only way this is going to work. Now I am very sorry, Odette that I did hurt you, that was never my intentions at all, and in a way I did love you, but in a way, I would love Finn or Colin, maybe as a sibling or a friend, but that's the closest i've come to really loving you. It was never anything more..."
"Shira, it's enough of all of this going on. Odette you're a very nice young woman, but I knew from the start this was never going to go the whole way. My son has never gonna love you or even look at you the same way he loves, and looks at Rory, here. I'm sorry to have to tell you this..."
"Dad, what are you doing?"
"Something, I should have done and said a long time ago. Rory dear, i'm very happy that you and Logan did reconcile with each other, no matter how many times i've showed otherwise. You make my son the happiest i'd ever been, and I couldn't be more happier. You have proved your self-worth time and time again, and for that I say 'Welcome to the family.' and by the way Shira, I've filed for divorce, which I should of done about 20 years ago." Getting up from the table, he turned and looked at everyone else. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get going. I've got others plans, and others places to be. Logan call me this week, and we'll set something up with you and Rory if you would like."
We couldn't believe our ears and eyes. Mitchum "the dark lord" Huntzberger, walking our on Shira. This was unbelievable. Honor, Josh and I walked out after Mitchum did, leaving Logan alone to talk to his mom and Odette, even though he didn't want us leaving, he needed this part of his life to be completely over with, and closed. It wasn't even 5 minutes later, and Logan was running out and joining us in the car as well.
"Little brother, I should say we all knew something was up with Shira when she had requested all of us to meet for dinner, and not just you and I. Or even just you and Rory. Shira was in for the public show, thinking it was going to break you and Rory up again. And can you believe what dad did? That was insane, I honestly didn't think he had it in him, to do something like that and to her. I applaud dad, and have a little bit more respect for him as well."
I looked back at her in the backseat with Josh, and then turned to look at Logan. I didn't think it would be a good idea to say anything at the moment, so I put my hand behind his neck and rubbed his neck as he closed his eyes for just a second before starting up his car. The ride back to the house from the restaurant seemed to take forever, instead of the 15 minute drive it usually is. I went ahead with Josh following me, and unlocked the house, while Logan and Honor sat in the car for another few minutes, trying to observe everything that had just happened at Max Downtown, and I went into the kitchen and made some coffee for Honor, Josh and I, and grabbed a bottle of scotch for Logan. I went out to the pool house, to get his favorite bottle, and when I went in I got a big surprise as Finn was there.
"Hello, love. How are you doing?" He looked like he had been crying.
"Finn, it's been a bad night. I'll explain later. Are you ok?"
He started crying really hard. I knew he had been crying. "Rory, it's Benny. He called wanting to come to Australia with me, so I sent the Jet. The Jet never made it back, and it's been 2 days. I even called the pilot and know answer. I finally had to report the jet as missing. I don't know what i'm going to do, if something has happened to him." He was hysterical at this point. As he had his head on my shoulder crying, I head a knock on the door. Turning around to see who it had been, it was Logan.
"Ace, what's going on? Finn, what are you doing here?"
I explained this time for Finn, so he wouldn't have to explain a second time in less than 5 minutes. I felt so bad for him. "Logan, I came out here to get your bottle of scotch, and Finn was here and I asked him what was wrong, and that's what you walked into." He nodded, grabbed me by my hand and pulled me to the side. "Ace, Rory. We need to talk."
