Chairman Meow began batting Magnus' hand and glaring at him extended a single claw to make a point. "Don't push me...my magic is already a bit spastic; watch out or I'll mistakenly turn you into a mouse"! The cat hissed and arched its back, trying to seem menacing, but he was just too small, fluffy and cute to pull off this demeanor. Magnus met Chairman Meows gaze and felt extremely guilty at taking his current state of misery out on his cat. Every time his eyes closed he saw Alec's eyes pooling with remorse; voice breaking as the apology passed his lips. It was exhausting and maddening. With a snap of his fingers and a few sparks of blue, an everything pizza appeared ready to provide comfort. The buzzer sounded announcing visitors. Ugh. Walking over to the intercom and jabbing the button said "go away, I'm not taking appointments today". Today was not a day that would improve with the arrival of snobby fairies or vampires.
"Let me in Warlock or so help me I'll rip the door off" a voice growled. Oh by the Angel, it's the golden boy. Magnus was in no state of mind to deal with Jace's arrogance. "I don't have time for your pathetic Nephilim problems, go away Jace." Another voice came through the speaker, "Magnus please. This will only take a minute, it would mean a lot". The voice was Clary's and it hit a soft spot. He had known her as a child and she was incredibly less annoying than the rest of the New York shadowhunters. He pressed the button to let them in, snapping his fingers to fix his hair with its normal glitter and spikes along with his eyeliner. Being a warlock had its perks. Magnus sat back on the pink couch making no effort to clean up the empty takeout containers or ice cream cartons littering the floor since the breakup. They were barging in so they could deal with the mess. He heard the front door open and as he turned around, things happened in the blink of an eye. He saw Jace and Clary shove Alec in the loft while locking the door with a rune.
Alec cursed under his breath and turned to face Magnus. It took all of Magnus's willpower not to gasp out loud. The beautiful eyes that Magnus loved so much were adorned with purple circles and his skin was unnaturally pale. He looked as if he had lost weight and not in a good way. It was clear the breakup had been hard on him. He hid in a bulky sweater that at one point must have been black but over time had faded to a brownish grey. Magnus's heart broke in half, all he wanted to do was run to his shadowhunter and comfort him, to kiss his pale lips, and to take away every ounce of pain, but he couldn't. Alec had lied and betrayed him by going to Camille behind his back. He would gladly give his immortality to live his years out with Alec and to not survive another heartbreak of losing the one he loved. He had lived with losing his dearest ones before, it was the curse of immortality but their eyes didn't light up like Alec's did. They didn't have the same incredibly insecure yet endearing blush that Alec got when Magnus flirted with him. They were not as unswervingly loyal or brave as him. Alec was just Alec.
Alec blushed and looked down clearly unaware of what Jace and Clary had been planning. "Hello Alexander" he greeted "Jace, you are aware that I am a warlock and I can and will break that locking rune very easily" He heard rustling from the other side of the door before Clary's voice responded "We just want you guys to talk; you've both been miserable since you broke up and both of you made mistakes. So work it out!" Magnus blinked away the tears easily; he'd had many years of practice. Alec stood in silence while Magnus snapped his fingers to unlock the door. "Goodbye Alec" he whispered turning away barely keeping his resolve.
All of a sudden a fire message appeared in front of Magnus. "Clary, golden boy. Get your butts in here, it's a message from The Clave" Magnus called out. The message read 'Idris under attack from Sebastian Verlac, the city wards have fallen. Any and all available help please report to Idris' Jace immediately went into demon hunter mode. "Magnus we need you to draw a Portal" he said. Magnus was done "No. I know that's not a word you hear very often but I'm done being the shadowhunter's pet warlock" They looked at him in shock; Clary was the first to recover "Magnus please we need you." He started to turn around when a hand stopped him, he heard Alec's voice. "Magnus please, I know the shadowhunters aren't always fair. In fact, most of the time they aren't, but we need you. If Sebastian wins there won't be a place to hide till it all blows over. The world will be chaos." He dropped his voice lower for Magnus's ears only "Please" He looked up at Magnus and Magnus melted. No one else could express as much emotion through their eyes as Alec could. His eyes were sorrowful and guilty and pained. It ripped Magnus in half; he would do anything to keep pain out of those eyes. Always. "Fine" he grumbled and started creating the portal, chanting under his breath. Once the portal was done Jace and Clary stepped through and he looked at Alec as they stepped forward at the same time. Alec gave him a questioning look, "Magnus I didn't think you were coming". Magnus smirked his half smile, "I am the High Warlock of Brooklyn my darling" His expression fell at his old habit of calling Alec pet names like darling. Alec looked at Magnus before stepping into the portal. "Just don't get hurt okay. And Magnus, I'm sorry" Alec stepped through the portal; Magnus followed him through and thought "I will protect Alec; he will not be a casualty in this war."
