Magnus saw Clary and Jace fighting Sebastian, if it were not such a serious situation it would be beautiful. Good against evil, Jace glowing with heavenly fire (quite literally) while he back-flipped and gracefully fought. Magnus strode to Clary “Tell me what you need!” Clary looked exhausted, “I know a rune, its powerful though; maybe even life threatening to everyone here”. Magnus knew that this might be the case, but they had no choice. “Clary you have to do it, give me your hand” Clary looked at him in confusion; Magnus would do everything to defeat Sebastian, to avenge Alec. Even if the decision was one of the hardest he’d ever had to make. If a warlock gave up his immortality it created a burst of energy so strong it could overpower any enemy, Magnus gave his hand to Clary thinking “You would’ve only had to ask my darling Alexander” before a supernova of power exploded from within him. He could feel the power flowing into Clary, by now Clary had her stele twisting into an intricate rune, Magnus’s vision started to blur around the edges from the impact of strength leaving him so rapidly. Clary finished her rune and was blown backwards. Many people around them collapsed from the strength of the rune. He watched as the disfigured runes that had connected Jace and Sebastian started to glow on both of the shadowhunters. Jace gasped as though he was in pain, the heavenly fire left his body. For a terrifying moment nothing happened. Then Sebastian screamed with such agony it hurt Magnus’s ears. Gold fire glowed inside of Sebastian; it lit every part of him. He writhed in pain screaming in anguish, it was painful to watch. The light flared in an explosion that knocked everyone in the battle to the ground. The people that had just gotten back on their feet from the rune gave them a dirty look obviously tired of being knocked over. When Magnus looked up He saw Sebastian’s body blackened and burned, he was almost unrecognizable. His once evil yet beautiful face was distorted with pain, even in death. However the demonic rune over his heart glowed gold, still burning with heavenly fire.

Magnus stood just outside of the infirmary doors where Alec was being held at The Institute. He stood as far away as possible from Robert and Maryse Lightwood; while Maryse had somewhat excepted his and Alec’s relationship, Robert had not. He had even asked Alec once ‘what turned him gay’, but Magnus didn’t want to dwell on that right now. Not when his precious Alexander was... asleep. Magnus was barely keeping his emotions together, 800 years he had suppressed his tears when other people were around; but as soon as Alec got hurt he crumbled to pieces. Izzy came through the Institute’s door crying clearly having just been informed of Alec’s condition. She was covered in demon ichor and her clothes were torn, “Where’s Alec?” she asked. Magnus pointed toward the infirmary doors before replying “Alec is being examined by the Silent Brothers, we aren’t allowed in yet.” Izzy’s face fell but then she raised an eyebrow, “Does this mean you and my brother are finally back together!” she asked. Magnus couldn’t help the one tear that slid down his cheek; “I don’t know.” Izzy came forward enveloping Magnus in a hug, she whispered “He’ll wake up”, but in Magnus’s mind he wasn’t so sure.

Magnus sat next to Alec’s bedside in the infirmary gripping his hand after the Silent Brothers left. He told him about the victory and how there had been fireworks in Idris; but almost everyone had lost loved ones so not many people felt like celebrating. Magnus thought about Alec saving him from Sebastian; protecting him. Magnus had no doubt in his mind now that Alec’s intentions had never been bad; they had been out of love. Magnus was troubled that Alec had still been struggling with himself when they had been together, Alec had always been reserved about their relationship. Their trip to Europe and Asia had been a breakthrough; he had kissed Alec under the Eiffel Tower only getting a strong blush instead of the usual opposition to public displays of affection. They had held hands in India walking down the street; they had gotten a strange looks but they didn’t even seem to faze Alec. He had been glowing with happiness, simply watching the chaos of the street market.

Days passed with no change in Alec; Magnus stayed with Alec from about 9 in the morning to 9 at night only taking clients on an emergency basis. He read to Alec, talked to him. Magnus had never felt more broken, his quiet steady happiness that had come of Alec had disappeared. At least when they had broken up he had known that Alec was safe and somewhat happy with the presence of his siblings. Magnus no longer wore his glittered hair or rainbow pants. He didn’t want anyone looking at him but Alec. About 2 weeks later Magnus appealed to the Silent Brothers, he heard their voices in his head “Magnus, there is nothing we can do right now. Alec was stabbed by a blade poisoned with demon blood and cursed with Sebastian Morgenstern’s demonic runes. The poison seems to have stopped before any major damage could occur to him but it seems that the rune was a torture device. It is keeping Alec in a constant nightmare; it senses his worst fears, his regrets. It will do severe damage if we don’t cure it soon but we have never seen anything like it.” Magnus felt himself go cold, Alec was in a nightmare? He had been thrashing throughout the days however Magnus had thought it was the pain of the poison.

Magnus went back to the Institute feeling even worse, he ran into Clary on his way into the Institute. Since Jace had gotten the whole ‘heavenly fire’ problem worked out, he had proposed to her the day after the battle in the greenhouse of the Institute. There was no rush to set the date, they still were not sure if they wanted to have a full Shadowhunter wedding or a mundane wedding. “Hello Clary” he greeted. “Hi Magnus, Any news about Alec?” Alec’s condition was severely affecting Jace, in the shadowhunter world your parabati is not only your partner in battle but your brother in every way. Jace hadn’t been quite the same since Alec was injured; he had lost some of his cocky personality that reminded Magnus so much of Will Herondale. Clary was good for Jace though; she was less erratic. Magnus told her what the Silent Brothers had said. “By the Angel, he must be in so much pain” she said when he had finished. Magnus excused himself, even though this was just as hard on Jace; he had Clary and his wedding and his sister. Magnus had no one, no one but Chairman Meow and his snobby clients. Magnus sat back down to Alec in the infirmary. His skin had gotten even paler than usual standing out against his black hair. Magnus had an idea; it wasn’t a good one but it would have to do.
