Authors Note: I wrote this before CoHF so this story has Lucifer as Magnus's father.

Idris looked less like a paradise and more like what it was right now; a battlefield.

Sebastian’s army of shadowhunters that had been turned by the Infernal Cup fought all around Magnus, slicing down everything in their path.  He saw Isabelle who had been here with her mother Maryse on business. She had just back flipped over her opponent and stabbed her seraph blade into his back, at the same time he saw Jace and Clary fighting through hoardes of traitor Nephilim to try to find Sebastian. What was really on Magnus’s mind was Alec. Where was he? Magnus spotted 3 of the infernal soldiers coming toward him, “Bad decision” he thought. Blue flames of magic alit his hands, concentrating on his attackers he struck. As the magic wove throughout them, one exploded, another went still before collapsing, and another looked like he fell asleep.

Magnus focused, taking down 1 to 3 attackers at a time, as he was struggling with one he didn’t see Sebastian come up behind him. Sebastian struck, pinning Magnus to the ground. “Well well look who I found, if it isn’t the filthy downworlder boyfriend of Jace Herondale’s parabatai.” Sebastian spoke each word with venom as he took a knife from his sheath. Digging the knife in jagged lines down Magnus’s arms he smiled cruelly. “Why isn’t my magic working” thought Magnus. Sebastian’s black eyes looked into Magnus’s vertical slit cat eyes. “Are you wondering why that magic of yours isn’t working? Well we all know that my dear sister Clary isn’t the only child that my father experimented on. Her rune gift will not beat mine, for she only has the strength to create runes infused with angelic power. Well what about a new type of rune?” Sebastian lifted the sleeve of his armor to reveal a rune. The air seemed to grow colder with the reveal of the rune. This rune wasn’t anything angelic, it was unnatural. “I cannot wait to see Alexander Lightwood’s face when he sees you. I wonder if he will do the pathetic ‘take me instead’ act.” Pressing the knife harder into Magnus’s arm he continued “It will be quite a victory you see. I Sebastian Verlarc taking down the Magnus Bane, son of the Prince of Hell himself; Lucifer. Perhaps this will teach Alexander that nothing good will come from this unnatural disgusting love of you” Magnus spit in Sebastian’s face, Sebastian looked down at him with evil glinting in his black eyes. “Alexander will learn this lesson whether your alive or not” Sebastian raised his knife when a figure had him pinned to the ground beside Magnus. Collecting himself he saw Alec on top of Sebastian. He heard Alec’s voice, “You know what, anything you would say about Magnus and I. Well I can guarantee I’ve thought it already. Magnus may be only half human but that’s more than you’ll ever be.” A knife embedded itself into Alec’s arm, Sebastian jumped up, grinning demonically. “Let’s see your precious warlock try to snap his fingers and save you now.” Magnus ran toward Alec, kneeling down in front of him he sighed with relief, it was only an arm wound. “Darling are you all right?” Alec gasped writhing in pain; he managed to choke out “Not a normal blade”. Magnus panicked, what did he mean it wasn’t a normal blade; he put his hands in Alec’s trying to feel how much damage had been done so he could heal it. There was a block, why wasn’t this working. Tears starting flowing from his eyes, he looked up at Alec. Alec looked back at him before saying “Au cinta kamu, not that I didn’t before” Magnus remembered the line well; it was what he had said to Alec at the subway station that awful night. Magnus saw Alec’s eyes close. “Alec” he said panicking more and more “Alec wake up” he said louder. Through his magic he felt him still alive. He would wake up; Magnus would make sure of it.

Magnus couldn’t hear the sounds around him; they were too far away from where his mind was. Alec’s beautiful eyes closing, his face contorted in pain from the poisoned demonic blade. Waves of pain hit Magnus over and over; Magnus wanted nothing more than to lie next to his precious shadowhunter and leave the world behind him. It was that moment Magnus realized how totally and completely he was enraptured by Alec. His presence healed the broken parts deep inside of him; Alec was quiet and reserved but never yielding. Magnus let out a choked sob before rising back to his feet. He owed it to Alec to win this battle.
