In this rainy night,
All I can do
Is think
And write

As I form these words
That escaped my mind,
As much as I do for my lips
I feel free
Like birds
Or bees

I begin to ponder
And let my mind wonder
About anything
I could imagine
I look down
On myself.

What if
I find a solace
In being alone?
In being with myself
I found home

I don't need "friends
that'll stick to the end"
If I can do things myself
Then why depend?

I sigh and think
That this is too much to think
About

So I keep my notebook
And dim the lights
As I close my eyes
And doze off into the night

With beauty emanating beyond understanding
But when you leave, the evening comes
Wrapping me in the depths of the night

I cannot do anything to stop you from setting
Oh, it hurts to watch you as you leave
So I take every chance to see you
Cherishing every moment for just us two

Sometimes I stare out the window
Looking at the orange sky
Wondering what makes a sunset so breathtaking
I guess I will never know why

THE MIND

It all began
Upon piles of buckets,
Mountains of wood –
And unceasing expectations

That details embedded
Their intricate selves
On my infinite shelf

Over and over and over

Then along you came;
The shelf was swept clean
There you took your throne.

Now there's nothing
Nothing but your smile
And your face
And your messy hair
And your hands–
Not intertwined with mine

The shelf is full.
