"So she got there, but she got there late." Raelynn took out a pack of beer from the fridge.

Sean took the beer out of her grasp as he listened.

"Your brother was so upset, and I get it. This is special for him, but I just felt bad because Genevieve didn't get it, or she didn't want to get it."

After closing the fridge, Raelynn picks up two-chip trays with homemade dip. She goes into the living room with Sean in tow.

"Rae, you know how Genevieve is. She's like a hippy. I love her to death, but the girl doesn't get negative vibes, or like you said, she doesn't want to. Since I met her, she's always the 'look on the bright side person,' and to an extent, that's good and helpful."

"But not when your husband obviously needs you to appeal to his feelings." Raelynn sets the trays down on the coffee table, and Sean, the beer.

"Look, I know it's none of my business, but I care about them both, so I care about their marriage. I care about their kid that I'm carrying."

"And I understand that, but they're adults, and they've been married long enough to hash this out. You're already doing them this huge favor. It is not your job to play marriage counselor too."

"But it's not about just that, Sean," Raelynn argued. "This baby didn't ask to be here, so if they stay crappy or their relationship goes downhill, I would be a culprit in that. I said yes to having this baby, and I think he or she deserves the best, you know?"

"Again, I understand, but they're adults, and it's not your job to make their issues, your issues. That's not good for you or the baby."

Raelynn placed her hands on her hips, worriedly. Sean was about to go back into the kitchen. But he realized that this situation affected his wife more than it should have been.

Genevieve and Seth have been an odd couple since the beginning. While she was free-spirited, he was the opposite, but opposites attract. They balance each other out but sadly, because they are so different, they have big issues.

At the same time, though, they've always gotten through those issues, at least from what Sean has seen. They wouldn't have gotten this far if they didn't love each other enough to make things work.

"Come here, hot stuff," Sean takes her hand, sits on the couch, and rests her onto his lap. "What's the real season all of this is bothering you? Talk to me."

Raelynn puts her arm around his neck while he put his around her waist.

"Your brother said something that really stuck with me. He said that he felt like Genevieve was treating the pregnancy as if she was 'off the hook.'"

"What did he mean by that?"

"Well, you know Gen has been really reluctant on kids for a long time. Then when she couldn't have one, I remember her telling me that she felt like . . . like . . if they didn't have a kid, she was going to lose Seth. And now that I'm pregnant with her child. . .it just seems that your brother could be right. I mean, I'm the one really sacrificing here."

Sean was speechless.

"That is pretty shitty if you ask me."

"Exactly," Raelynn agreed. "I love Genevieve, but what if he's right? No baby deserves a mother like that."

"Well, did he ask her about it?"

"He said he would, but you know your brother," Raelynn looks away.

"Hm," Sean thought for a moment. "Honestly, I would like to think that Genevieve, as nice as she is, wouldn't think of it that way. For the baby's sake and my brother's. But until he talks to her about it, it's just a lot of assuming."
