Chapter 11:
After the shoot Joyce came up to me,
"Wow, thanks for the make over. Torri is totally cool!"
I had totally forgotten about that,
"Oh, uh, you're welcome!"
I smiled. I saw her eyebrows flinch together and then she went back to normal. My smile must not have been enough. Dang. When I got inside I took off the dress I was currently wearing and got in the shower. I could barely remember what to do in a shower. I have no idea why though.
When I got out and put some sweats on, Charlie came in. When I saw him the images hit me like a punch in the face, speaking of punches in the face... Before I went and sat by Charlie I went into the bathroom and noticed a big split lip and several huge black, yellow, and purple bruises. Oh my gosh. The shoot. Joyce's reaction when I smiled at her. The pictures! That's why Monty wanted to cancel the shoot. Why didn't anyone tell me? I went into my room and sat on the bed next to Charlie, and it was like a wall of water broke and flooded my tear ducts. I burst out crying, only now it actually hurt considering I have a split lip. Charlie didn't say a word but just sat there and held me, like old times, while I cried. I am so unbelievably thankful for Charlie. He doesn't say anything about the snot or, sometimes, the mascara, or the tears soaking his shirt. One time I cried for 3 hours straight until I ran out of tears, but when I saw the black smeared all over his shirt, I cried even harder.
By the time Charlie and I fell asleep, it was nearly 1:00 in the morning, but let me tell you, in the morning we didn't wake up for a while.
When we did it was nearly 2:00. Man can we sleep. But when I woke up, I didn't know where I was until I heard the steady breathing of Charlie's breath and then I remembered. Suddenly I jumped up out of bed before he could see what a mess I looked like. My jumping out of bed must have startled him awake because he got up right away too. I went into the bathroom and turned my straightener on while I put on some waterproof mascara. When the straightener was ready I ran it over my golden blonde hair and worked my hair into a loose braid. By the time Charlie came in to take a shower I was back in my former glory.
"You don't have to be scared of what you look like in the morning. You're beautiful either way to me."
I rolled my eyes,
"Well I just wanted to be cautious. You know. So you aren't scarred for life."
He just laughed and wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and gave me a kiss, until I pushed him away,
"Ew! Neither of us have even brushed our teeth! Just take your shower."
I walked out to find some decent clothes. I settled on a white strapless bandeau bow, with a salmon skirt.
I walked back into the bathroom to try and fix my tear stained cheeks. Don't you just love how you look after you cry? It turns out he had just stripped for his shower.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!"
I turned to leave but he grabbed my wrist,
"Come on. Stay in here and finish what you were gonna do. I've seen you. It shouldn't matter if you see me anymore."
While trying my hardest to only look in his eyes I carefully nodded.
"Ok then. I've just never seen... it."
