Savannah's Pov:

I looked at the end of the corridor restlessly before bringing my gaze back at the stop where Melissa and Raquel had been sitting a while ago. After seeing Matthew I decided to call Melissa and Raquel and asked them if they could come and just be with me because I needed them and of course , they agreed. They both had left a while ago and they still haven't come back. I wondered for a moment if they left like I suggested they would. I wouldn't exactly blame them since they aren't really close to Matthew and they have been here for more than 2 hours already , but they assured me , right before they left, that they werent going anywhere; that they just needed some fresh air and something to eat.

I'd been so busy worrying about Matthew that I didnt even notice when Matt's parents got here. When I saw them I immediately got up from my seat and went to greet them. I had a short conversation with them before they both dissappeared to go see Matthew. By the time they came back , Raquel and Melissa were already back as well sitting with me.

"Is-is he- do you know why he collapsed?" I couldnt help but ask.

"He had a panic attack."

I in fact already knew this but I needed to hear it again to make sure that what the nurse had told me was true. I hadn't even noticed how Melissa had taken my hand and was squeezing my fingers to death and that I was doing the same to hers.

"Don't worry, girls." Mr.Espinosa offered us a smile. "Everything will be alright. For now the doctor is checking for other possible complications and is trying to figure out what might have caused it."

I wasn't sure if I was relieved or not of hearing that but right now I was just glad it wasn't more than that.

His soft and perfect combed brown hair was gone and was now unkempt, sticking up in every direction. He was resting and had his eyes closed but the moment he heard me approaching, they fluttered open and landed on me. He looked very exhausted but he still managed a smile for me.

I almost cried at the thought that the reason he was like this was because of me. Surprisingly , he didn't show any anger or bitterness towards me. It was quite the opposite actually , he looked relieved and delighted seeing me , which made me feel extremely guilty for what I had done earlier. I sat down over the plastic chair that was next to his bed and looked away from him.

"Hey," I said.

"You didn't have to come," he said.

I shook my head and gave him a look.

"Are you kidding me? Of course I did. Especially because I caused this." I looked down , ashamed of myself.

I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding. "I-I'm sorry. I honestly don't deserve your friendship after this --"

Matthew's soft , barely-there chuckle rang in my ears.

"Really. I'm sorry for everything I've made you go through , you deserve better than me and that's exactly why I need to tell you that we can' be friends anymore. I know you're going to say that it will just make everything worse but--"

"Savannah."

"But you got to understand that this is better for the both--"

"Savannah."

"Please Matt don't insist , really , I think is the best for the both of us and I already made my final --"

"Savannah!"

I jumped. I was about to start discussing with him again but he beat me to it.

"If that's what you really want then I respect it."
