When I woke up with a splitting headache in Daisuke's bedroom, it was already morning. I wanted to resume sleeping, but I was dragged out of his bed.
"School will be starting in a few hours," Daisuke had said harshly. "Moreover, someone wants to meet you near my school."
"I don't care who it is, I just want my beauty sleep," I murmured, but Daisuke succeeded in keeping me awake as I ate my breakfast and changed in my school uniform (not in the same room, obviously). As we head to the park near his school, I keep asking him who I am meeting. He does not say a word about it, but just continues to walk.
When we reach the park, it is quiet except for a few kids playing on the swings. Daisuke looks down at his watch and frowns. "He's late."
"He? Who he?" I ask, getting more frustrated and more suspicious. "Don't tell me it's my dad--"
I feel a pat on my shoulder, and I whip around to see Watanabe Satoshi, my ex-theater director and crush from my ex-school. My jaw drops in disbelief, and I feel my face turning red. I shoot a malicious glare at Daisuke, who already run off toward the sandpit, excited like a child.
"Why are you here?" I manage to speak. The person who wanted to meet me is Satoshi? From what I can recall, he isn't very close with me. Before, I don't recall why I even liked him since he was always critising my "terrible" acting. After seeing him however, I realise I had liked him because of his devotion to the drama club.
Satoshi chuckles sadly, breaking me from my thoughts. "Good to see you too. How are you?"
"I...I'm great." I stutter a little. "It's been a long time." His smile still makes my heart skip a beat--even though I was sure my feelings for him are gone. I glance at Daisuke for help, only to see him piling up a mountain of sand in the pit. "So why did you want to meet me?"
"I know it's really selfish of me to ask of you, but..." Satoshi bows deeply. "Please come back to our club."
I pause for a moment. "But I'm in a different school now."
He shakes his head. "We are trying to see if a student in another school is able to join another school's club. I know your school doesn't have a drama club, so I begged our school principal to see if we can get an exception for you. He's thinking about it now..." Scratching his cheek, he looks almost embarrassed. "Our club cannot do without you."
"Erm...I think I'll give you an answer after the principal makes a decision," I mutter, still in shock. If I still have a good memory, the drama club in my previous school has several talented students who knew how to act, but is he that desperate to get me back?
As if he read my mind, Satoshi sighs. "Many students are dropping out of the club because of some threatening letters they got during the holidays. The annual theater competition is coming in a few weeks' time, so we don't have time to get new members and train them." His expression is now tired, and he rubs his temples. "Our principal is already a little annoyed at us because we didn't win the last three competitions like we did before..."
Those competitions had to be the ones that I was supposed to participate until I rolled down the stairs and went into a long coma. That cursed shoplifter/servant dude was the start of everything--the coma, the transfer to a new school, the meeting of Okita Mitsu and Souji...
"Did you kick that guy out of the club?" I blurt out.
"You mean the boy who pushed you?" Satoshi nods. "We did, but he kept turning up during our practice. We had to pay the aikido kids to keep him out."
"Hey sorry to interrupt, but..." Daisuke skips toward us. "You have to reach school in five minutes, Jun."

Speak of the devil...
I curse myself in my head as my mathematics teacher, Hijikata Toshizou stares down at me, his arms folded over his chest. Glaring at the floor, I try to think of a reasonable enough of an excuse to let the maths demon spare my life.
"Hey, I'm talking to you."
I reluctantly look up and meet his flaring eyes. "Yes, Mr. Hijikata. I was late because...my father suddenly fainted." I sneak a peek at my classmates, who are all avoiding eye contact. Damn it, I need an escape route, but I can't do it without help.
Hijikata's eyes narrow into slits. "Cut the crap, Akamine," he spits. "Your father called the school this morning to ask about you. You ran away from home, didn't you?"
Shit. I'm exposed without a warning. Clearing my throat, I quickly think of something to keep his mouth shut. "Can we talk about this privately? Please?" I try to send him signals that I don't want to talk about it in front of th class, and it works.
"Fine, detention after class," Hijikata growls and turns back to the blackboard."Does anyone has the guts to come up and solve this problem?"
I take that as a sign to go back to my seat, hastily taking out my books and stationary so that the maths demon does not have any reason to scold me. As Hijikata sneers at the student writing on the board, I glance out of the window and notice that one of the classes is having Physical Education. Nonchalantly I stare at them playing around with a soccer ball before almost slamming my head against the desk.
Okita Souji.
Damn it. Why do I have the worse luck in the world? I keep seeing him when I don't wish to. I peep at the window again, this time trying to conceal myself. Souji is surrounded by guys who are laughing and bumping him on the shoulders. He is clearly in the center of the attention.
So he's popular, huh. Not that I care or anything. But I do wish that I was the one who is in the center of attention, and honestly I don't think he deserves it, especially with that personality of his. He is a good-looking boy though...
My fingers find their way to my lips and I blush hard. That good-looking bastard kissed me yesterday. If we had girls in this school, there would be a fanclub for Okita Souji. And if that fanclub hears about it, I would be bullied like in shoujo manga. Maybe my fanclub would protect me, since I am also popular...
I don't realise that I had been staring at Souji until he looks up to meet my eyes. Immediately, my head bangs onto the desk, and everyone in the class looks at me. A shadow falls over me, and I look up to see Hijikata glowering down at me, his purple eyes on fire.
Oh shit.
