Prologue

"But Mommy! My feet hurt!" My 8 year old self whined while standing in my tutu on the hard-wood floor of my dance studio.

"I don't care Ava! I wan't you to be perfect. Now again! From the top and this time don't mess up." My mom Anna Robinson, former famous ballerina said while sipping coffee.

I started again giving each move my all. Straightening my legs, making sure my kicks were high enough while still keeping a smile on my face.

"It was okay." She said once I finished, not even looking up from her phone.

"I wanna go home now." I said sitting down on the floor.

"Fine, I guess that was enough for this evening." She says standing and picking up her things. She walks over and helps me up then kisses my forehead. "You know I love you. I'm only hard on you because I wan't you to be the best."

I smile up at her. Then we walked to the car hand in hand.

"Daddy!" I squealed as I ran into the door when we got home.

He picked me and up and placed me on his hip. "There's my little ballerina!" He kissed my cheek then put me down.

"Hi hun." He walked over and kissed my mom's cheek.

"Ryan I'm tired please don't touch me right now." She walked passed him and smiled when she saw my twin brother Alexander.

"There's my handsome son!" She kissed his cheek and held his face in her hands. "How was hockey?"

"Good mom! I made six goals in practice!" He smiled at her.

"Better then you're sister did today." She said a bit quieter.

They both laughed and I walked upstairs.

In pictures we look like a perfect family. A handsome son who plays hockey. A beautiful daughter that does ballet and two wealthy parents.

But behind closed doors. It wasn't perfect at all.
