"Hey Ava." She said with an awkward smile.

"What's going on?" I looked at my parents and they both looked like deer in headlights.

"How about you take a seat, mija." My dad said softly.

I looked at them with one eyebrow raised then sat down slowly. My mom called Alex downstairs and told him to sit as well.

"Okay, can someone tell me why my teacher is sitting in my kitchen." Alex said as he sat.

"Stop speaking and maybe we'll get to that." My mom said with a fake smile.

"When your father and I were younger we weren't the smartest people. We weren't careful causing us to slip up and make a mistake." She said with a sigh.

"I'm sitting right here." Ms. W deadpanned.

"I didn't mean it like that, I'm sorry. Anyways, I became pregnant with her, Aubrey." She motioned to Ms. W. "I was too young and I just couldn't do it. So after I gave birth, I gave her up for adoption. Before they took her away I put a locket around her necklace with our pictures in it." She motioned to herself and dad. "Life got ahead of me and even though I promised her I would look for her eventually, I never did." She sighed.

My dad held my mom's hand and for the first time, in what seemed like forever, she didn't rip her hand away.

"Ha, ha. Very funny guys." Alex said rolling his eyes.

"I don't think their joking, Alex." I croaked our staring straight ahead.

I had a sister for all this time and they didn't think to tell us. To make it even more awkward she was my teacher and still is my teacher.

"Ava.." My dad said.

"Why didn't you tell us earlier?!" I snapped. "Why now? Why did you wait? I had a sister for so long and no one thought maybe I would want to know?"

"Ava, calm down." My mom said softly.

"No! I will not calm down. This isn't a boxing glove mom, or a ballet outfit. It's a human, a human with the same blood as mine! So I won't calm down." I said standing up.

"Mija-"

"Don't you 'mija' me." I imitated my dad.

"We should have told you a long time ago. I just didn't want you guys running off trying to find her." My mom said reaching out for me.

"I'm going to go.." Ms— Aubrey, said with an awkward smile.

"Alright. Drive safely." My dad smiled at her and hugged her, so did my mom.

She left and then Alex spoke. "I'm so disgusted."

"Alex isn't that a bit extreme." My mom said with a sigh.

"My friends called her hot and I agreed with them." He gagged.

"I'm going to bed." I said as I walked away.

They all called 'goodnight' after me and I went into my room slamming the door. I laid back down on my bed and let my eyes close.

Way to ruin my evening.

"You're sister?" Liam said stopping in his tracks.

I nodded and heard him run to catch up with me. "Weird right."

"You guys do look a bit alike." He said glancing at her as she walked to her car.

As we got closer to the bench I stopped when I say two men trying to take it from the ground.
