"Anna! Hurry up! You don't want to be late on your first day at a new school," yelled my mom.

I pulled on a pair of dark skinny jeans, and threw on a fitted red v-neck. I pulled my long blond waves into a ponytail, and slipped into my flats. I checked myself in the mirror one more time.

I was wearing a little bit of mascara which made my green eyes pop, and I still had a tan, considering I had moved from California. I never personally cared about my appearance, but I had tried a little hard to look good today, just in case I saw him. A smile spread across my face just thinking about him. When my mother told me we were moving to Connecticut, a million thoughts spurred through my mind, the top one being what if I end up going to the same school as him.

But I knew not to get my hopes up because there are hundreds of different schools, and I doubt I will end up being in the same one as him. I had to face reality to save myself from disappointment.

I grabbed my new bookbag, and slung it over my shoulder. I ran down the stairs, grabbed my keys (my parents had bought me a car since they felt bad moving me across the country on such short notice), and yelled goodbye to my mother. She said something, but I was running out the door so fast I didn't hear.

I hopped into my car quickly, since it was raining. Such welcoming weather, I thought to myself. I started the ignition, and followed the gps on my phone, since I had no clue on how to get to school by myself.

Once I reached what looked like the school, I parked in the closest spot to the front, and yanked my keys out. I took a breath, exited, and walked up to the schools front doors.

This place is freaking huge, I thought. I gulped, and noticed a few people staring at me. Girls had envious glints in their eyes, and a group of what looked to be jocks was whistling and checking me out. Great. Just what I wanted.

I ignored the looks and comments, trying to find my locker. I glanced at my schedule, and searched for my locker number which was supposed to be on this paper somewhere...my thoughts were interrupted by someone clearing their throat. I glanced up, and standing in front of me was a petite girl with sparkling brown eyes, and straight brown hair. She had a sincere smile plastered on her face, and to me she seemed nice enough. Maybe I would be lucky enough to make a friend today.

"Hi, I'm Jillian, but you can call me Jilly for short. You looked a little lost, so I was wondering if you needed any help," offered the brunette. I nodded, and handed her my schedule.

"Oh hey! We have 4 classes together! Psychology, algebra 2, and english! Oh, and P.E. The worst classes in my opinion, but at least I won't be alone now. Alright so you're locker number 331. I'll lead the way."

I followed after Jillian, who seemed to know where she was going. People all turned to stare at me, and it was irritating me. I never liked being the center of attention. One guy slapped my ass while I was walking, and I shot him a death glare, making him and his stupid friends laugh.

"So, are you new here, uh..," Jillian asked, looking at me with raised eyebrows.

"Anna, and, yeah, I'm from California," I responded, trying to keep up with her pace. She seemed to be a very...bubbly girl. But I liked her. She had a lot of spunk.

"Oh, I've always wanted to go there! Gosh, it sucks here. Cold, depressing weather, not many beaches, and not many fun things to do, or no places to go. Basically it's out to dinner, the movies, or the mall."

I frowned, and felt my stomach churn. I suddenly missed California even more.

Not many beaches.

Not many fun things to do.

Cold , depressing weather.

How could I surf? They get snow and rain here. I will never be able to wear shorts again, or visit the boardwalk, or catch up on my tan, or-

"Hey, Anna, this is your locker."

I blinked, shaking my head. I had gotten caught up in my thoughts again.

Snap out of it Anna and stop moping.

"Yeah, thanks," I replied. Jillian shrugged, and leaned against the locker next to mine.

"No problem. So need help finding your next class? I don't have first period with you."

"That wouldn't be a bad idea. Knowing me, I will probably get lost. This place is quite large." Jillian laughed and waited for me to retrieve my things. "You know, I like you Anna. You're not like the other b*tches at this school."

I shut my locker, holding my books close to me, and gave Jillian a small smile. "I'll take that as a compliment." Jillian guided me to my class, and before entering, I turned around and faced Jillian, who was already walking down the hall.

"Thanks Jillian."

She grinned, turned around, and yelled, "Call me Jilly!"
