I awake and stretch. Sunlight streams through the gaps in my curtains. I get out of bed and open the curtains. The sound of people bustling as they go about their jobs fills my ears. It is a cacophonous sound that leaves ringing sound in my head. I close the shutters which help the sound a little, but not much. I now have a resounding headache to last me the day. I begin to sing as I get ready for the day.
At breakfast, Papa smiles at me and says, "Last night, two of the lords asked me for your hand. If either interest you, I will give you time to get to know him. If not, then I suppose we will have to continue looking. They were Lord Campitelli and Lord Adinolfi. Both seem suitable to me, but I give you the choice of a husband so long as he is not one who will lower your position."
"Lord Campitelli interests me, but not Lord Adinolfi."
"Very well. I shall have him for dinner tonight."
"Thank you, Papa."
