Cliona was precious.
So precious than any other thing in her life, yet it felt impossible for Lavinia to make a deal with universe. What could she offer in return of her dear sister? How would this universe be ready to show her paths that would lead to where Cliona was trapped?
Lavinia was not blank at the moment. There were some ways to move ahead in this search but her heart would waver in uncertainty all the time. The more this mystery was getting intense, the more time was being wasted.
"You look just like her."
She was startled by the mere whisper. Turning her head, she stared at the woman lying on the big bed. Her caramel skin was complimenting her sharp features. But her eyes were full of tiredness.
Lavinia's eyes immediately shifted to her round belly, concluding that the pup was soon to arrive. In a month or less. But why would they put such precious lives in her hands when she wasn't a medic.
"The same shape, the same nose. But her eyes-"
"-are purple, I know." Lavinia smiled at her. "Alpha Aric has sent me to take care of your health."
The woman let out a soft chuckle while raising her head. Lavinia immediately helped her in rising on the pillows. "He just gets scared easily when it comes to my health," she breathed heavily while caressing her belly.
A memory of a red-eyed creature flashed in her mind. Lavinia couldn't help but feel her heartbeats rising at remembering the stranger from the forest. To her embarrassment, the Luna had noticed.
"Looks like, you too have someone to scare easily for your health." Her eyebrows narrowed with a playful smile on her face.
Lavinia blushed deeply, while shaking her head. "I. . . " She was unable to answer. Her hand shook as she wiped her chin while smiling nervously. She couldn't believe that the mere thought of that Vampire had made her lose her senses.
The Luna laughed adorably. "It is fine with me, if you don't want to share."
Lavinia noticed how she was breathing heavily. The grown weight was affecting her. "So," she blinked, "She comes here often?"
Something pinched hard at her heart when the Luna's smile fell immediately. They all were not used to discuss about her being alive. They all had believed in the news of her death. Lavinia couldn't understand their bond.
Does this beings do not feel the presence of souls of their loved ones?
"She does," the Luna answered with a small smile. "Rico could hardly spend time here without her. But when one day she came and we got to know about Darlene's occupation. . ."
Lavinia could feel her stomach churn at the mention of the woman. The Luna held her hand and told, "So, Aric and I invited her to stay as much as she can here during the holidays, instead of staying at her home which wasn't safe. She used to bring Walter here too."
Lavinia smiled sadly at her. "I am in your debt."
Luna blinked slowly while shaking her head. "Cliona is a lovable child. The pack welcomed her with all hearts. Earlier we used to think of how she could turn out to be Rico's mate but he still doesn't know yet."
A nervous laugh escaped her mouth at noticing that she didn't know about Callum. "Did she ever mention a boy named Callum?"
The she-wolf smiled sheepishly. "Of course, she did. You don't have to worry about it. Rico cares for Cliona just like Callum cares for you," she said while glancing towards the curtain through which he was visible stealing glances at them worriedly, instead of focusing on Alpha Aric's words.
