chapter 12

Thunder roars off in the distance. Winds pick up speed causing the smell blood to pick up. There was thousand of them.. bodies piled up at every corner. Some ripped apart and some eaten. I looked around calling out hoping someone was alive. But the only thing alive was me. I run looking for at least one survivor. Suddenly i see a familiar figure walking toward me. Happy to know i wasn't the only one alive, i run toward them. But as i get closer i notice it was Eren, he looked bloodied and broken. I run into his arms, hugging him tightly. But he didn't return the hug, he just stood there.

"Eren, what happened?" I ask him hoping he knew what happened to this place. He looked down at me and i gasp noticing the blank look in his eyes. He pushes me away and growls.

"It's all your fault, you're the reason why everyone is dead." he answered with hatred in his voice. I back up and frown not understanding what he was saying.

"what do you mean.. i didn't cause this Eren," I pleaded with him, "the titans had to have done this, i was not apart of this,"

"But it is your fault, the titans attacked under your control," He snapped causing me to shake my head. His words echoed through out my head as i continue to back away from him. I shook hard as his words hit my inner core, i felt a sob push its up to my throat.

"Eren please i didn't do this, trust me i would have stopped this from happening," i say with a shaky voice. My hands shook as i tried to reach out to him, but i stopped as i noticed something behind him. I screamed as the colossal titan stomps its way toward us. Eren looked back and then frowned and looked back at me.

"See its coming to finish what you started,'' he said as he walked toward me. Suddenly i felt his hand wrap around my throat causing me to let out muffled cry. Everything started to spin and i could hear someone shout out to me.

"Zoie wake up! this is all a bad dream!"

Suddenly i sit up gasping for air. I looked around and sighed in relief knowing that it was all a bad dream. I slowly remove myself off the bed and quietly walk toward the bedroom door, in hopes that i wouldn't wake up Petra. Walking down the corridor and down the stairs, i noticed how the moon light up the headquarters. Heading toward the dinning hall, i felt that i was alone. the nightmare causing my throat to go dry, i look for something to drink. Grabbing the tea bags and mug i walk toward the sink and fill the up the kettle for hot water. As i was doing this i didn't notice the figure in the corner until it cleared its throat.

"Oh, i didn't see you there captain," I said as Levi walks into the candle light. He flicked his tongue against his teeth making a 'tch' sound.

"What are you doing?" he asked as he sat in one of the chairs, i felt myself flush as i stared down at the kettle.

"I'm making some tea, would you like some?" I replied to his question. He nodded and i smiled faintly as i put the kettle on the stove and turned the handle causing a small flame to glow beneath it. I stood there and felt my heart to start to throb as the nightmare replayed. I gripped the mug in my hand tightly as i tried to slow my breathing. Apparently Levi noticed as the next thing i know i sense someone behind me. I turn around and gasp a bit as Levi hovers over me.

"You seem off.. what happened?" He asked coolly. I found that my voice was stuck in my throat so i just shook my head. Finding my voice i softly spoke up.

"Nothing.. just worried about the expedition that's coming up," I lied as the kettle went off. Carefully grabbing it i poured the hot water into the mugs and placed the tea bags in. Handing Levi his cup, i smiled warmly. but when he gave me that blank stare i knew he didn't believe me. But i didn't let it show.

"Tch, whatever," he said as he took one of the chairs and sat down. I let out a breath of relief then took a small sip of the warm tea. We sat there in pure silence until i finally decided to speak up.

"I dont resent you, i think what you did was necessary, maybe not to the certain extant that you went to but i understand that you had a point that was to be made," I said as i took another sip. He didn't say anything at first, he just sat there and drank his tea. I knew that he wouldn't respond but i decided to say it anyways.

"Is that it?" He finally spoke up. I nodded and smiled a bit letting him know that i was serious. As i looked at him i couldn't help but take in his features, his undercut black hair and how it set perfectly with his face, or how his steel grey eyes shined in the candle light. My heart began to throb causing me to flush dark red. Gladly he didn't notice or that's what i hoped. But noticing the faint smirk on his lips, i turned even darker.

"What are you staring at Zoie," he asked as he stood up. I pressed myself against the stove and gulped.

"Nothing captain i swear, i was just staring off into the distance." I said as he got closer. I felt my body become weak, for it was hard to stand. I moved around him and sat in one of the chairs hoping that the shaking would stop.

"Oh really now?" he said with a cocky tone. I frowned hating the fact that he enjoyed my flustered state.

"Yes i'm sure," I said as i looked away, but my heart continue to throb in my chest as my the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. He looked at me and just shook his head, as he took another drink of his tea.

"But your reaction says other wise Zoie," he said as he turned to leave. I watched him leave, which caused my heart to ache a bit, but i shook my head of those kind of thoughts. What was i thinking? Liking Levi.. it was out of the question. I knew better but my heart fluttered whenever he was around. I grew to like him after these three months of training with his team, but my love for Eren was stronger... or thats what i thought. I shook my head and stood up, making my turn to leave i run into Eren. I gasp as i looked up at him. He looked worried and sadden.

"Eren?" I asked as i stood there waiting for him to say something, but when he just pulled me into a hug, i couldn't help but return it.

"Zoie.. please dont leave me," He muttered into my ear causing my heart to ache.

"I wont leave you Eren.. not now or ever," I said hoping that would put him to ease. He hugged me tighter as i let him. I squeezed him a bit as we stood there hugging. Not realizing what made him like this i laid my head on his chest. I promised that i wouldnt leave him and i tend to keep that promise. He remained me so much of Lorelei that i swore to protect him and the others. And thats what i would do. I would protect them from the darkness and chaos of this world even if it meant that i had to die. But i would never tell them that for i dont want them to worry.

"I promise to be here for you..." I whispered.

you promised to be there for me too... but what happened there Zoie? Are you sure you can make that same promise again?
