I sit in Biology with a migraine. Despite my injury, I was still made to go to school. These are the perks of having a doctor for a father. If my vitals are good, I can go to school. I bet Melissa wouldn't do me like this.

The boy to my right clouds my thoughts briefly. I kissed him last night and he hasn't said anything about it. Or the date.

He hasn't said much of anything to me. I shouldn't have kissed him. I wasn't thinking clearly.

"If 99.9% of our DNA sequence is the same as other humans, what could account for the missing 0.1% difference?" Mrs. Finch asks, rather loudly if I'm honest.

With my head down on my desk, I write nucleotides down in my notes and close my eyes, hoping desperately that I wasn't called on.
"Theo?"
"Um, nucleotides?" I hear from beside me.
"That's right... Peyton, head up please." Mrs. Finch says.

I internally groan and do what I'm told before looking over at Theo.

"You didn't sound so sure of that answer." I whisper.
"I wasn't." He laughs. "I looked at your notes."
"I thought you were sure you were in the right class?" I quirk.

"Can there be more than one species in the same DNA?" Kira asks. Theo adverts his attention towards Mrs. Finch, awaiting the answer.
"No, but there can be multiple sets of DNA in the same individual." She replies.

"Chimera." I whisper, furrowing my brows.
"We call that a chimera. Anyone know where that term comes from?" Finch asks.

"How did you know that?" Theo asks, looking at me.
"I'm a sucker for Greek Mythology." I smirk.

"That's right, Sydney. Do you want to read us the full Wikipedia entry off your phone?" Mrs. Finch asks. "That does get us into the next topic of mutation."

"As you know from the reading, DNA is a fragile molecule. Isn't it, Scott? Or did you miss last night's assigned reading?" Mrs. Finch asks, tauntingly.
"Kind of." He replies.
"Kind of or yes?" She barks.
"Mostly yes." He admits quietly.

Well this just turned awkward. We were kind of busy not dying last night.

"Drop forms. All those now acutely aware that they do not belong in this class, you should fill one out." Mrs. Finch says, setting a sheet on a couple student's desk.
"The rest will be on my desk."

I watch silently as Scott picks up a drop form at the end of class. His eyes meet mine for a moment and he gives me a sad smile. Now we're sitting in the library... me with a migraine, while my friends sit with all good health. Except for Lydia. Which is what the discussion topic is right now.

"I tried using my free period, but she's in the ICU. No one outside of family is allowed in." Stiles says.

"Oh, well that's great." I say sarcastically.
"Hey, maybe you can get your dad to get us in." Stiles suggests.
"Hah. No. Until I can come up with a suitable and believable lie as to what caused my head to get bashed into a wall, I'm avoiding him for a while." I scoff.

Malia places a bestiary onto the table in front of us.
"Anything in here about a half-werewolf and half-kanima?" Kira asks.
"A chimera." Scott murmurs.

"A what?" Stiles asks.
"Chimera. It's a creature made of different parts." Scott replies.
"And if when Liam fell into that hole, there were more burial sites..." I mumble.
"Then who is the second chimera?" Kira asks.
"Why would they bury them?" Stiles asks.

"Deaton thinks it's part of their process." Scott says.
"The people in the masks." Malia nods.
The group looks at her for a moment before turning their heads back to the book.
I nod at her, giving her the satisfaction of someone believing her.
