************************************************************************************************************
We woke up later that morning at 6:00, thoroughly exhausted, but knowing that we had to get ready for school. It was Friday, and my last day before I left for New York. We all downed our various sources of energy: I had coffee, Abbie made herbal tea, Ashlie broke out the blender and used every berry we had in the house to make her signature very berry smoothie, and Kaylie opted for plain old orange juice.
We were all sitting in my kitchen with The Weather Channel droning in the background when I happened to look at the clock.
“Shit, it’s 6:45. We have to leave in twenty minutes if we want to get a parking spot!” I jumped up and ran to my room to get ready. Sure enough, we crammed into Ashlie’s car twenty-five minutes later.
We sped to school, violating just about every traffic law you could possibly break. We made it to the school ten minutes before the bell would ring, by some odd miracle. Just as we were about to pull into the perfect spot, a yellow convertible Jeep swerved in front of us and took the last spot in the lot. I’m pretty sure that I don’t need to tell you just who it was.
“You snooze, you lose!” Harry called as he headed towards the school with his posse of dumbass cheerleaders.
Ashlie drew in a deep breath and flared her nostrils in frustration. “Can we please slash his tires?” she growled menacingly.
“Absolutely not! I will not spend my last day here in a jail cell!” I shook my head.
“Oh, come on, can I at least nick his paint?” Ashlie dangerously turned the wheel.
“No!” I reached over and straightened the car out. I nodded to Georgetown lot. “Just park in Georgetown.”
“Ugh, it’s so much farther to walk from Georgetown!” Ashlie groaned, but turned the car towards the lot.
“Well, Rose is full. What are we gonna do?” Abbie huffed.
My phone buzzed. “Louis just texted me. He’s parked down in Georgetown cuz the senior lot is full, too. So let’s just go and meet him down there.” I said.
You have to understand: Georgetown was the “Loser Lot.” It was located near the middle school, which was about a half a mile away from the high school. The senior lot was in prime position, and Rose lot was reserved for Juniors. Parking in Georgetown was like getting bumped to the D-list. Not the best way to start my day.
We easily found a spot in Georgetown, although it was filling up pretty fast. As I climbed out of the front seat of Ashlie’s bug, I spotted my best guy friend, Louis Tomlinson, getting out of his epic Porsche.
“Hey, Louis!” I waved and smiled. Louis has been my best friend since middle school when we were in Seussical: The Musical together. He got me hooked onto Broadway, and my acting has been my major focus ever since.
“Hey, babe!” Louis has a very distinct, fashionable sense of style. Today, he was wearing a red and white striped V-neck shirt with red skinny jeans and grey Toms. His Aviator sunglasses and Starbucks coffee cup added a casual and suave look. “You excited for your last day?” He smiled a killer Crest smile.
See, Louis was one of those guys that just had ‘It’, whatever ‘It’ is. He, like Abbie, had moved here with his family from England when he was young, and he still had an irresistible British accent. He had this swooping brown hair that was always perfectly styled and these bright green-blue eyes that were always looking for adventure. Plus, I mean, he was gorgeous. It was a miracle I hadn’t fallen for him!
