The moon is my sun
The night is my day
Blood is my life
And you are my prey"Don't pick on me, it's not nice." I glared at Vicky who was holding my head in her lap as we sat in the back seat of the escalade. It was Friday morning before spring break and I was seriously regretting a night of drinking with the girls the night before. "I'm enjoying the last few weeks with my friends before I disappear forever and you're making it very hard to complain about my hangover." I grumbled, hearing James laugh as he pulled into the school parking lot.
"Come on princess, it's time to get out." I sat up, seeing James beside my door and feeling his arms under my legs, lifting me out carefully. Instead of getting back to my feet I wrapped my legs around him and clung like a monkey. "You're a child." He snickered and I nodded as he walked over to my friends. "Help?"
Jess and Angela held onto me as Lauren tickled my sides, making me squeal and hurt all our heads. "Are you part banshee?" Jess asked and I shrugged, taking my bag from Vicky with a soft 'thanks'.
"We'll pick you up after school babe, text me if we need to get you earlier for any reason." She spoke, glaring across the lot at the Cullen's who were watching us carefully, Edward and Bella now beside them.
"They wouldn't be stupid enough to hurt me when James' has Caius Volturi on speed dial." I joked and she smiled, kissing my cheek. James went for my lips but I turned my head at the last second. "You don't get my sweet lips when you make fun of my hangovers, are you going to be nicer to me from now on?"
"Probably not." He said honestly and I sighed, kissing him anyway.
"At least you're honest. See you later." I waved as they pulled out of the lot and I felt Jess grab my arm, turning me in the direction of my sister and Edward who were walking over.
"Can I speak to you?" Bella asked and I sighed, following her a few feet away, enough that humans couldn't hear but close enough to go back if I needed to. "You need to get them out of Forks, they're human drinkers."
"It's too dangerous for Bella, James already wanted to kill her once." Edward hissed and I glared at both of them.
"You don't get to tell me what to do, and if you keep thinking you're the boss of me I'll start letting them hunt in town instead of insisting they stay in Port Angeles. James wants to kill Bella, as does Victoria, but they don't because I ask them not to, they hunt outside of town because I ask it of them, they don't go near the rez and antagonize the wolves because I ask it of them. They're my mates, just like Edward is yours, understand? Now either get used to it, or get out of my way." I went to walk away but felt a hand grab my elbow in a bone crushing grip, making me cry out as I felt the crack. Jess ran over shoving Edwards hand away, as everyone else got in front of me.
"Don't put your hands on her. We all have her boyfriend's number and if you think he won't come back to kick your sorry ass, you're wrong." Lauren snarled.
"If you ever put your hands on me again, I will gladly tell James, and you know exactly what he will do." I told Edward, who seemed to pale suddenly, though I didn't know it was possible. Edward walked away with Bella behind him before I felt a cold hand on my elbow, looking back to see Jasper inspecting it and I quickly realized Edward only backed away when he saw Jasper approaching.
"Are you alright? I think it's broken. I'll be kicking his ass later, don't you worry." He spoke, assuring me I was safe without actually saying it. Angela was about to come to my aid but I stopped her.
"It's okay Ang, I'm fine talking with him. He won't hurt me." I promised her and while my friends began to walk to the school they stopped at the front, waiting for me.
