Junjie slid on a bench beside Ling Ling. He was dressed in a regular white and silver robe. His long metalic hair tied on the back of his head.
It had been at least two months passed. Ling Ling began settling in her possible eternity in this palace, sighing every now and then. Her mind was occupied by her mother, her brother, her cat, the life she left behind.
She wondered how her family is doing now, how are they surviving without her?
She was the only breadwinner in the house.
"What're thinking about?" Inquired Junjie quietly as he yanked Ling Ling's attention to him. Her distant eyes pulled and glided it over to him who unceasingly managed to look immaculately beautiful each time.
"You ever think about wearing that mask again? Your face is distracting."
He laughed and offered her a flower he picked up on his way to see her. "So, you admit you like what you see?"
She snorted, she wasn't about to stroke his ego today. Goodness, he's cocky enough.
Ling Ling took the flower from his hand, brushing her fingertips on the soft petals. It's pretty, even the flowers in the spirit world are more vibrant, captivating, they smelled better compared to the ones she's used to in the human world.
She groaned looking away. "I thought you were always arrogant."
"No ma'am, just confident." Answered Junjie with a grin.
This made Ling Ling smile, "you know we had this conversation before."
Her sight moved to the view of the courtyard, watching the skittering people moving on about.
Junjie's palace was numerous times larger than Mr. Chanchu's, not even that, it was beyond comparable. Junjie's palace was enormous, he has more servants, compared to Mr. Chanchu.
Ling Ling liked it there, she enjoys the peace, the tranquility. It was the kind of environment Ling Ling can thrive and be happy in.
"So, you say."
"I heard you have plenty of human brides offered to you by villagers, human sacrifices."
"Yes, it's sad, isn't it?" Junjie didn't deny it, lying isn't part of his nature. He joined Ling Ling as they watched busy servants walking around, working at the courtyard.
"I heard you guide them to the other side so they can reincarnate."
Junjie breathed. "I do. It's the least I can do for them."
"Were you planning on doing the same to me?" Ling Ling looked at Junjie, her hand clutched into fists on her lap.
"I was, but I changed my mind."
"Was it because of the bracelet?"
"Yes…" Junjie paused and turned to her with his solemn eyes. "Does that upset you?"
Ling Ling shook her head, "no."
A giant shadow swooshed over their heads, blocking the blithe sun for an instant. Ling Ling and Junjie craned their heads up at the same time. It was the spirit dragon who passed overhead.
"I have an idea, Ling Ling."
"Hmm…"
"Do you want to go somewhere?" Junjie took her hand into his and pulled her up to his feet suddenly.
The effortless way he smiled, the lack of malice in his eyes. He was as pure as he could be, Ling Ling thought. He wasn't like Bolin who could mask his mood and swing from cool to dark without notice.
How easy would it be? He's already beautiful, carefree, and he's kind to her. He offered Ling Ling help without expecting anything in return.
"Come, Ling Ling." His voice urged. "I think you are going to like this place."
"Where will we go?" Asked Ling Ling.
"Just see, you will love me for it."
