Chapter 11

"It all started when my brother found out he was a half-blood." Nëraid began.

"We were starting to draw attention to ourselves. Evil creatures wanted us dead, because he was in a crazy prophecy; but that's another story, and because we were children of Poseidon. So there is this magical veil called The Mist, that basically changes what normal humans see. So where I see a chimera, you see a wild lion or something along those lines. So all that stuff that's on the FBI list is because of The Mist. The mortals think we are blowing up buildings and are terrorist, but really The Mist is changing what they see because they don't have a connection to our world."

Then, her, Nico and Annabeth explained as best they could about their world.

"That's a lot to take in." Lori sighed.

"Trust us, we know." Annabeth laughed dryly.

Glenn pulled Nëraid aside while Nico and Annabeth talked some more.

"Look, I'm sorry-"

"It's okay, I get it. I wouldn't trust me either."

"I do trust you. Now. It's just what I thought I saw..."

She put a hand on his shoulder.
"I understand. And I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault, it's a-Zeus's?" He stumbled a bit with the name but got it quickly. The sky tumbled and Nëraid laughed.

"Ah, don't you just love family?"

Glenn smiled, "yes, I do love you Nëraid."

Nëraid smiled back before both of them joined the rest of the group.

"...Camp is mostly likely been taken over by walkers. Otherwise our safest bet would be to go there. We haven't had contact with them or the gods since the apocalypse started. Not until Nëraid died." Nico was saying as they rejoined the group.

"Actually, my father showed me the camp. The borders up still. Everyone's alright." She said with a new found flicker of hope in her eyes.

"What?" Annabeth and Nico said at the same time.

She grinned from ear to ear and nodded vigorously.

"We have to go to them!" Annabeth said excitedly, then centered herself and looked at Rick.

Rick looked at all three of them. "Where exactly is the camp?"

"Long Island." Nëraid said quietly.

"New York!" Hershel gasped.

"No, it's too dangerous. We are in fricken Georgia for crying out loud!" Maggie said.

"It's a days drive!" Nëraid said. "Besides, we would be safe! No more walkers, fighting, scavenging! We could live like it's not even happening!"

Rick spoke very quietly. "We will take a vote. All those in favor of going to New York, raise your hand.

Glenn, Daryl, Beth, Maggie, Carol, Lori, Nico, Carl, Annabeth and Nëraid.

"Staying?"

Hershel didn't even bother to raise his hand.

"Alright then, we leave in two days. We will take all of tomorrow to get the supplies we need." Rick nodded before walking away.

" I have a bad feeling about this." Hershel muttered before going to his cell.

Lori patted her stomach. "This could be a safe place for my baby."

"Ready to see Leo?" Nico said slyly go Nëraid.

Nëraid whipped around, her cheeks flushed.

Annabeth laughed, "leave her alone Nico, or she'll start mentioning Will."

Now it was Nico'a turn to blush.

Everyone else in the cafeteria looked confused but intrigued.

Nico started to explain, "Nëraid has a burning flame-," Annabeth cackled at the pun. "For Leo Valdez, son of Hephaestus."

Nëraid started to protest but Annabeth cut her off.

"And he's got a major thing for her too."

"Does not!" Nëraid said rolling her eyes.

Annabeth and Nico exchanged glances. The rest of the group was amused.

"Well Nico's got a thing for Will Solace, son of Apollo!" Nëraid sputtered trying to take the attention off of herself.

"I do not! I'm the son of the king of the dead, I have no feelings...especially for sons of the FRICKEN SUN!"

"What, too much sunshine for your dead heart?" She giggled.

He rolled his eyes and sighed knowing she wouldn't stop, so he just ignored her.

Annabeth was laughing so hard by this point that she was clutching her sides.

"I just can't wait until we get there...it's been so long..." Nëraid voice trailed off and her eyes clouded with sadness.

Annabeth stopped laughing.

"Anyone want some stew?" Carol asked breaking the silence.

The group all started talking at once while Carol and Beth handed out stew. They chatted and ate, feeling whole. Little did they know Hershel would be right.
