Chapter 7:
I awaken in the morning, and splash my face with cold water from the tap water.
As my body starts to fully wake up, from my long slumber, my head starts to throb and the room starts to spin slightly.
Annoyed I take a seat on the floor, resting my head against the wall to try decrease the elaborate spinning. I begin to search frantically in all the cupboards. Nothing. For some odd unknown reason we have no paracetamol or Ibuprofen pills. That's sucks.
Rolling my eyes I quickly consume some food as eating food helps with a hangover. I decide to trek to the shops and purchase some pills.
I leave a sleeping Nic in our bedroom and exit the house.
Outside, the hot summer sun beams down at me, I hear the birdsong in the sky above me As well as the constant hum if nearby car engines on the road. I approach the curb and turn to check if the coast is clear to cross. All clear. I step out and begin to make my way across the street.
Suddenly a speeding car swirls round the corner, just as I'm half way across the road. My heart skips a beat, as I fasten my pace. But before I know it I hear the car engine get louder and louder, and then a searing, piercing pain in my head and chest.
Then I black out.
