The first time Nerys Miller actually wished her sister dead, she was just thirteen.

For the first time in years, her older sister Gladys had made it her personal mission to rekindle the romance between herself and her sophomore year sweetheart, FP Jones.

What made this particularly infuriating, is that Gladys had no actual interest in FP. She never really had, and Nerys had known this for quite some time now.

One night, a tipsy Gladys had confessed that she always just found it amusing how taken FP had been with her and liked the attention he so freely gave when they had been together.

Once Gladys had found her private journal, it brought out the most stubborn, competitive side of the older Miller girl.

As Gladys quickly discovered, much to Nerys' dismay, her little sister was in fact head-over-heels for a scruffy brunette she used to call her own.
This lead to Gladys going out of her way to recall out loud her most intimate memories of FP whenever the two sisters found themselves alone together.

As Gladys would openly admit to her younger sister, it was done solely to "twist the knife a little, just because she could".

To take her game to the next level, Gladys began actively seeking FP out. Trying to lure him back in with promises of renewed tenderness and caring, like how they used to be.

Despite Gladys and FP being an obvious mismatch, both sisters knew it was only a matter of time before the lonely Jones would cave, as both sisters knew he was still very much single.

After Alice had left him for Hal Cooper, only to top it off with a succinct elopement, pregnancy, and new Northside address, FP had all but dropped off young Riverdale's social radar.

He had spent the last three years alternating bouts of military service with gang service.

But it was only Nerys who knew about the latter. For the past three years, if night had fallen and FP Jones was standing on Riverdale soil, then he had young Nerys backing him to his right. Ready and waiting, come what may.

Despite any awkwardness in the beginning, as both tried to dance around the raw nerves of his breakup with her sister, Nerys had come to consider FP her closest and truest friend.

When he gave her a well worn jean jacket with a patch across the back that matched his own, in return she had given him her unwavering loyalty and damn near all of the space in her tiny heart.

She had been hoping against hope that that would hold them together long enough until some time had passed where FP could look upon her all grown, and see her differently than he had been.

To see her as she saw him.

But when Gladys came home one day with an exaggerated smirk on her face, Nerys noticed the ring on her hand far before she even realized what her sister had grasped within it.

Gladys triumphantly slapped a piece of plastic down onto the surface of Nerys' desk, right next to her open journal.

All the dreams Nerys held for her own future came crashing down. There would be no more hanging in there and biding her time.
Instead, it was Gladys' imminent future that was rising, and it was swallowing the entire horizon.

A wedding and a baby, it would seem.

Nerys couldn't bring herself to look directly at it.
The little plus sign was chipping away at her already crumbling heart.

"Game Over, little sister."
