oh how the butterflies

fluttered in circles in my stomach.

they were so happy

like they've never fluttered before.

i wrapped myself in the blanket

shaking whenever lightning struck

but you were there beside me laughing

like as if i was a character in a cartoon.

when you saw me cry

you knew my phobia was real.

you didn't hesitate to pull me in

and give me the warmth

that i've been craving

eversince i saw you.

you told me to sleep

despite the loud roar of thunder.

i shook my head in refusal

too scared to even close my eyes.

you laughed once more

as you ran your fingers down my hair

and sang me a song.
