Sadie and Finn arrived in the dining room of the studio's hotel. The others were all there already, and were talking to each other in hushed whispers. When they saw the two walk in, they became quiet and just smiled at each other.
"So," began Millie, "Finn, Sadie, pack your bags. Tomorrow morning we're taking a road trip to San Francisco on the Pacific Coast Highway. Don't worry, we've already asked the Duffers for permission."
"But, why so suddenly? We weren't due for another vacation for a few more weeks?" Finn asked.
"Well, we want Sadie to get to know you, I mean us, better. So we thought, why not a trip?" continued Noah.
They spent the rest of the dinner discussing their itinerary for the trip.
Back in their room, Finn confronted the boys.
"Guys, what is this trip? Like I'm not dumb. You guys are planning something?"
"Okay fine, we'll be honest. This was Millie's idea. She thinks you and Sadie are really cute together, but knows how shy you two are. We told her how you said you want to get to know her more. So the entire trip was her idea. You and Sadie will get to hang out more..." they answered.
Finn replied, "Yeah, but like I said, I don't know how she feels about me."
"You don't have to worry about that, we asked her." Caleb said.
"WAIT! WHAT?! WHEN? YOU MORONS..." Finn shouted.
"Haha, calm down! It was casual. But let's just say she turned as red as her hair." Noah said.
"Dude, there's no denying it. You and Sadie, there's something there, and one of you will need to make the first move. As your friends, we want that to be soon. You look so happy with her!" Gaten added.
Finn was at a loss of words. Maybe they were right. Maybe this could be the start of something beautiful. Something he'd been waiting his whole life for. Either way he was excited to find out.
"Alright," he said, "Let's get to packing then."
The four boys high fived.
Meanwhile, in Sadie and Millie's room.
"So, Sadie, are you excited?" Millie asked eagery.
"Yes, very! California is so beautiful..." she began. But Millie cut her off, "Okay, no more beating around the bush. Do you like Finn?"
"Why does everyone keep asking me that?" Sadie asked, surprised.
"Answer!" Millie giggled.
"Fine...maybe." Sadie admitted.
"Why? Maybe?" Millie probed.
"Well, he's nice enough, and pretty cute. But I've known him for a few days. I think we need more time. But why are you all asking me this?" said Sadie.
"Well, we've all known Finn for a while. And we've never seen him as happy as we've seen him these past few days. That's why we planned this trip, we want you guys to get to know each other, before we get busy shooting and filming." Millie said.
"Wow, that's really nice of you. Thank you." Sadie couldn't help but smile. She was excited at the thought of the possibilities.
The next day, the six of them packed into a van with their driver and they were off. The others had made sure Finn and Sadie ended up next to each other. Finn and Sadie were quieter than usual, looking everywhere but at each other, hiding their sly smiles from each other.
A few hours later, they arrived in San Fransisco and got off in front of the beach house they had rented. The boys all took one room and the girls the other. They quickly got unpacked and headed outside to play volleyball. Finn noticed how good Sadie was at it. She didn't miss a single volley, and her team ended up winning. When they took a water break, Finn high-fived Sadie and asked her, "Wow, how'd you get so good?"
"Varsity captain on my team back home," she winked, tightening her pony tail and heading back to the court.
Noah came up to Finn, as he watched Sadie, "Damn, what can't she do?" He jokingly said to Finn. "Shut up," Finn laughed.
Just then they heard a scream from the court.
