Chapter 11
(Kaila)
When my eyes snapped open the first thing I was aware of was that I must be dead. That was the only explanation for the surreal surroundings and my weightless body. I scanned the area, and my breath was taken from me. It was a meadow of the richest colors, with the most exotic looking flowers and the greenest grass.
Upon closer inspection I realized that the flowers were all different forms of aconitum. Paying little attention to that fact since I couldn't touch the plant I took in the rest of my surroundings. It was midnight, but the stars and moon were so close and so bright that it illuminated the field and gave it a enchanted feeling.
Looking down at myself I realized that my feet didn't touch the grass. I was literally floating above the ground. Another thing that startled me was I was glowing. Literally glowing a pale white, like the moonlight. A effortless laugh bubbled out of me, as I danced around loving how the colors blurred together. The only thing that would make this perfect would be to share this with Jonathan. As I was spinning around soaking in this feeling a figure caught the corner of my eye and I immediately stopped to turn to it.
I looked at the person wide-eyed, not sure what was happening. Immediately I knew that the place paled in comparison to the woman. She had an ageless face, and I couldn't place what age bracket she belonged in. Her skin was luminescent and glowed exactly like the full moon behind her.
She was the same height as me, but her feet was actually on the ground so that she appeared shorter. Long, flowing midnight black hair cascaded over her shoulders and rested right above her waist. Her eyes were a light grey, but had a sparkle to them akin to the stars in the sky. I was suddenly finding myself glad that Jon wasn't here with me. She studied me in a curious way, as if trying to dissect me. She was the first to break the silence.
"Hello Kaila." Her accompanying smile made my response leave me.
"Hi?"
"My name is Luna Dea."
"Okay?" Again my response formed a question, not really grasping what was happening. Her angelic laugh filled the air like music notes.
"I am the Moon Goddess, and also your spirit wolf."
