The drive to their academy has a comfortable silence to it. There were small talks about random stuff between the two siblings. Kenneth and Raven.
Raven then turned on the radio to find something nice to listen to. She stumbled upon a great song by "The Chainsmokers" playing on a random radio station.
Raven smiled and started humming to the tune.
"Even if our parents were dead. Even if Knox was on the verge of giving up and have us both adopted. We three somehow managed to live together up to this day. The both of us didn't give up on him."
Raven said in a serious tone having Kenneth smile. Why did he smile? Since he looked at the bright side of what had happened before. They're all falling apart. A normal person would probably forget that bitter memory but they thought of it as a very happy one.
A bitter memory that turned to be their ever burning flame of determination to strive more and be successful conquering your problems. A memory to look back and say 'Ha! look at us now!'
It tested their strength and bond as a family and the lesson of never giving up because there's always a brighter side to every dark situation. Solution?
Knox never gave up. On the age of 19 he dropped out of college and started managing their mother and father's real estate agency with the help of their father's trusted friends to support his siblings. Raven and Kenneth soon after found a part time job to help. Once they had enough money to fend for themselves, Knox decided to go back to college and pursue his dream to become an architect.
We stayed together and fought together.
The Midwinter siblings are pretty tight. Raven, being one year older than Kenneth, they get along pretty well. They joke around, prank one another and have their 24 year old brother Knox be involved into the mix from time to time.
They throw sarcastic comebacks at each other but meant it in a good and joking way. They were loud, strong, and happy together even if their parents were gone. All in all, they feel perfect to be standing by each other up until now. Even in dark times.
Kenneth chuckled lowly making Raven look at him.
"Wow, you must be going crazy" Raven said sarcastically.
"I just remebered those times. You kept on screaming at him to snap out of his lost state, pestered him and start working. To the point that you're punching him"
Raven laughed at the memory. She did kept on doing that to him until he gives up on considering having them adopted.
"Though I shouldn't have done that to a depressed person. I was 14 years back then." she embarrassingly said.
"Its just that, I don't like the idea of being away from you two, that's all" Raven said.
After a short while, Kenneth turned the car to the right and went straight ahead, Prescott Academy clear in sight.
Kenneth parked his car by the school's parking lot and they climbed off the vehicle. "So, lets face this day head on."
"Yeah." Raven clenched on her black bag and looked at every. Single. Student passing by.
It seemed like time slowed down. Everything turned monochrome of black.
Some students were staring at her. Their faces were becoming fuzzy. Some were even going the other way just to avoid her. Some were even whispering random fake stuff about her.
They're scared. Really, really scared of what she can do. Especially what happened from the past.
Ahh, how nauseating that moment was.
