By the time it hit Friday, I had yet to see Saylor in school. I never saw her in the halls, or during lunch. I wanted to invite her to the party tonight. I'm sure she already knew about it, but I wanted to invite her personally. I wanted to see her. I opened my locker after school to grab my jacket and whatever books I would need over winter break.

"Pumped for the party tonight?" Jayden asked as he stopped by my locker.

"Not any less pumped than I was when you asked me at lunch." I laughed as I slid my arm into the sleeve of my black jacket. "Is your little brother going with?"

"Sorry, dude. It's just my parents have never given me the opportunity to throw a party and this our time to shine. And, yeah, he had to go with. I told them I had a big group project that I wanted to get done before break really started."

"A group project to get wasted. Don't you think it's kinda weird to throw a party while your parents are at a funeral? Of a relative?"

"I didn't know them though. You can't back out."

"I'm not." My eyes traveled down the hallway where I spotted Saylor walking towards the front doors of the school. "I gotta go. I'll see you tonight." I took off jogging down the hall.

"Saylor!" I called out for her as she turned to face me. "Hey." I said once I caught up.

"Hey, Drunk-boy." Her smirk killed me every time.

"Is that your permanent nickname for me?"

"Looks like it." She giggled looking down at her shoes.

"I've been looking for you all week."

"Stalking me now?"

"No. Just wanted to invite you to a party tonight."

"Who's?" She asked seeming interested.

"Jayden's."

"Yeah, I'll pass." She started to turn away.

"Wait." I gently grabbed her arm, making her face me again. "You won't have to talk to him. You probably won't even see him."

"Does Jayden know you wanted to invite me?"

"No, but it doesn't matter. The whole school's practically invited."

"I don't know, Noah." I smile formed across my face. She stared at me confused. "Why are you smiling?"

"You called me Noah." I chuckled.

"You're a loser." She said playfully.

"So are you coming?"

"I don't know. I already have plans."

"Bring your plans to the party."

"My boyfriend's not really into the whole high school party scene."

"Your what?"

"My boyfriend. He's back from college for winter break."

I felt my heart sink all the way to the pit of my stomach. She had a boyfriend. A boyfriend who was in college. "Well, bring him. It'll be cool." I faked a smile.

"We'll see. Later Drunk-Boy."

I went over to Jayden's to help set up for the party. I was placing the cups on his dining room table for beer pong when I heard a knock on his back door. "Jayden, door!" I yelled.
