"Papa?" Lucy asks catching Castiel's attention.
"Yes?" He asks as he stands at her door  frame.
"Where's Daddy?" She asked sitting up in her bed.
                              "He's working, sweetie." Castiel answered.
" I miss him." Lucy whined. It pained him to know that although they all lived in the same house, Lucy never really saw him.
"I know, but if you go to sleep, I'll wake you up when he gets here. Okay?" He bargained and Lucy nodded immediately laying back down. "Good night." Castiel said as he exited his daughter's room.
Castiel couldn't believe that she was turning 4 next month and heading to school in the fall.
Around midnight Sam slowly opened the door, and saw that the lights were off. He knew he was late again, but at least he's home right? Sam flicked on the light which woke up Castiel who was sitting on the couch waiting for his husband.
"Sorry." Sam apologized quietly as Cas rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.
"Sam it's late." Castiel informed him.
"I know, I just lost track of time at the office." Sam explained as he started to take off his tie.  Castiel sighed.
"How many times have you used that excuse this month Sam?" Castiel questioned standing up from the comfort of the couch.
"Don't start lecturing me, Cas." Sam warned as he took of his shoes. "I had a tough day."
Castiel scoffed. "You know what Lucy said?" Castiel asked shooting a glare at Sam.
"Okay, what did she say?" Sam responded playing into Castiel's game.
"She said that she misses you."
That made Sam's heart stop. He lives in the same house as his daughter and she misses him.
"Says something doesn't it?" Castiel asked.
"What do you want me to say Castiel?" Sam asked getting frustrated. "That I'll work less? Cas, it's my job, it's what pays for us to have this life." Sam says raising his voice slightly and gesturing to their home.
"Sam, it's a nice house, but what good is it if you are never here?" Sam could tell that this was going to turn into a big fight.
"Can we just talk about this in the morning?" Sam asked heading down the hallway to their bedroom.
"No, Sam we can't." Castiel said stopping Sam by standing in front of the tall man.
"Why the fuck not, Cas?" Sam yelled. "Because I work late? Big deal. It's not like I'm cheating on you!"
Sam raising his voice scared him a bit, but he wasn't going to let this go.
"We have a daughter, Sam and she needs both of us to be in her life. Not just me." Castiel defended. "I promised her I'd wake her up just so she can see you."
"Why would you do that?" Sam asked lowering his voice.
"Because, like I said, she misses you." Castiel answered.
Sam sighed and opened the door to his daughter's bedroom. He carefully say on the bed and shook her shoulder a but to wake her up.
                              "Daddy?" She asked sounding groggy.
"Yeah baby it's me." Sam answered and the little girl practically leaped into his arms.
"I missed you." Lucy gushed planting a kiss on Sam's cheek.
" I know, Papa told me." Sam responded sadly. "What do you think about me spending the whole day with you and Papa?" Sam asked and he watched as his little girl's eyes lit up with excitement.
                              "The whole day?" Lucy asked.
"The whole day. Just you, me, and Papa." Sam answered. "But only if you go to sleep." With that Lucy laid back down with her eyes closed shut. "Good night." Sam whispered as he stood up from his daughter's bed and made his way out of the room.
Sam walked into the kitchen where he heard the microwave go off meaning that Castiel was heating up dinner for him.
"So I'm gonna take tomorrow off." Sam announced sitting at the table.
"Really?" Castiel asked sounding almost too surprised.
"Yeah you're right I do need to spend more time with her, but I can't just stop working the way I am." Sam announced as the plate was placed in front of him.
"But Sam..." Cas started but Sam stopped him.
"But, I can take a few days off here an there. You know, to be there with you and Lucy."
"I need you here, Sam." Castiel whispered.
"That's the best I can do." Sam stated taking a bite of the steaming food.
"Sam." Castiel whispered sounding like he was going to cry. "I need you here, though."
"I don't know what you want me to do. Do you want me to quit?" Sam asked trying to figure out where his husband was coming from.
"Sam." Castiel said looking at the man who was seated at the table. "I'm pregnant."
With that, Sam started to cough up his food, causing little chunks to go flying across the table.
"What?" Sam asked as he tried to compose himself.
"I'm pregnant." Castiel stated again louder that time. "I want you here, because I'm pregnant."
"When did you find out?" Sam asked taking a sip of water to try and forget that he had almost choked on food.
"A week ago." Castiel answered as he started to take a seat next to his husband.
"And I've been gone so much that you didn't get to tell me." Sam finished Cas' thought. Castiel nodded. "I'm sorry Baby." Sam apologized sincerely.
"Its okay." Castiel responded grabbing his husband's giant hand.
"Its not." Sam corrected. "I'm gonna talk to my boss, and in gonna be here for you guys."
Sam then took his hand and placed it on Castiel's flat stomach.
Over the next few months Sam kept his promise and was there when they found out they were having twins and when Castiel started showing. Sam was there when they broke the news to Lucy who was more than excited about two new additions to their family.
"Sam." Castiel whispered as he tried to shake Sam awake. Sam just groaned. "Sam they're kicking." Castiel whispered as he continued to shake the man.
Sam slowly sat up and runbed his eyes. "They're what?" He asked confused. Castiel just huffed and grabbed one of his hands and placed it on his growing stomach.
                              "Wow." Sam smiled. "They're kicking."
                              "Yeah."
"I'm glad I'm not missing this." Sam admitted.
                              "Me too."
