Your POV
I woke with an excruciating pain shooting through my skull. The clanking or gears, and scraping of metal caused me to cover my ears.
I caught my bruised arms at the corner of my eye, I lowered them, looking around the dark area. It was still moving at fast pace. I tried to stand, but a jolt in the chains caused me to fall back down onto the cold metal. My arms throbbing as I used them to cushion my head from the fall.
As I sat up I gently grabbed a strand of my Y/C/H.
That's when it dawned on me. I couldn't remember anything. At all. I started to hyperventilate.
What was my Name?
Where was I?
How old am I?
All those thoughts and more ran through my head. I stood once more, balancing myself on the metal wall, the cool material, finally cooling me down from the humid air I was trapped in.
The box started to slow down. I stood straight when I came to a full hault. I was determined to get out. I called, but my throat burned. Killing my vocal chords.
I needed water. But at first I needed to get out.
"Please. Someone!" I hit the metal, trying to make more noise. My claustrophobic area began to fill with light as the top of the box opened. I shielded my eyes, trying to ease my migraine.
A teenage boy, jumped down into the box, he had dark skin. Broad shoulders. He was tall compared to me. He had a smile. But I could tell it was forced. He held out a hand, which I gladly accepted, he lifted me out off the box, and I was met with more boys.
"It's a girl?"
"She's hot."
"She's mine."
"No I already called dibs, shank."
They all spoke about me like I wasn't here. I felt awkward. Especially because I was in a new place, with no memories.
"Hey greenie, I'm Alby. Do you remember anything?" He asked. I didn't answer, I was to shocked, looking around the place, trying to figure out where I was.
"How about you tell me your name?" He suggested. I shook my head, looking at him.
"I can't remember anything." Panic began to set in. My breathing quickened but he didn't notice. I followed him away from the already dispersing crowd. My chest was tightening but I couldn't bring myself to tell him.
"Newt!" Alby called as we approached a tall lean boy, with blonde hair and a lovely smile. My breathing calmed at the sight of him.
"This is Newt, he'll give you the tour." Alby said. I nodded. "See you at dinner." Was what he left with.
"Hey greenie." I turned to see Newt smiling at me, his eyes squinted from the sun. "Let's get on with the tour." He sighed. My throat was still dry, making it hard to talk.
"Where are we?" I croaked out.
"We're in the Glade, every month the people who put us here send up a new glader. Usually it's a boy. So it was shocking to see a girl in the box today." He told me. I rose an eyebrow.
"I'm the only girl?" I asked. He nodded.
"But don't worry, Alby and I will keep you safe." He smiled. That smile was perfect. Even though I just met him. I knew he was going to be an amazing friend.
"So we have, Slicers, baggers, med jacks, builders." He paused when a boy ran out of the walls that surrounded us.
"What does he do?" I asked. He nodded.
"That's Minho, He is a runner." He simply said. I nodded. I had an uneasy feeling about that job.
"That's Frypan. He's the cook." He pointed at a dark skinned boy. I smiled.
"How long have you been here?" I asked Newt. He looked at me.
"A year and a half." He responded. "Over there is the homestead, there should be a hammock set up for you." He pointed over to the wooden fort, with multiple hammocks and sleeping bags scattered through the structure.
I nodded. The runner then ran up to us, offering Newt a smile.
"I came here as soon as I was told the greenie was a girl." He turned to look at me. "I'm Minho, the stud." He winked. I couldn't help but giggle.
"I'm Y/N." I said, before realising what I said, Newt looked at me. A shocked smile on his face. "I'm Y/N!" I cheered. Minho high fived me.
"Way to go!" He smiled. Newt laughed. "It was my good looks and unwilling charm helped." He resorted to Newt. We both just scoffed. Playfully of course.
———After my name came back. Newt and Minho invited me to join them at the bonfire where I met Gally. The boys said he was arrogant. But I got along well with him.
He talked away to me, and the shocked faces from the crowd as they saw me make him laugh.
"Mind if I steal her for a bit Gally?" Newt asked, walking up beside me. Gally looked disappointed but nodded nonetheless. I smiled and patted his shoulder.
"Thanks for talking with me, see ya later." I smiled as I walked away with Newt.
"Wow, you must have magic powers." Newt laughed as we walked slowly through the Glade, kicking his feet lightly of the grass. "Let me walk you back to your hut." He said, I followed him to a hut, separate from the others. I looked at him comfused.
"It's mine, I thought you might be more comfortable. I'll sleep in the homestead. Just until you get a hut of your own." He explained.
I instantly hugged him. He hugged me back hesitantly. "Thank you." I cheered.
He released me. "Well good night Y/N." He smiled. Walking off back towards the dying fire.
I think I'm going to like the Glade.
