"That wall is 40 feet high. Do you really think she could have climbed out?" The guard asked.
"It depends." Owen replied.
"On what?"
"What kind of dinosaur they cooked up in that lab." Hayley spoke as she shook her head. Something bad was going to happen. Whatever they had cooked up in the lab, they had no idea how to deal with or put down if the time came.
Vivian suddenly spoke over the radio, catching them all off guard, "Paddock 11, this is Control. You need to evacuate the containment area. Paddock 11. Paddock 11, do you copy?"
"Yeah, what's the problem?" The guard spoke as he answered the radio.
"It's in the cage! It's in there with you!" Vivian yelled as their eyes widened in shock.
"Go!" Owen yelled as he grabbed Hayley's hand and they high tailed it in the other direction but the Indominous Rex had other ideas as she stood in front of them. They stopped as they slowly backed away in the other direction but not before she grabbed the other guard and they knew he was gone.
They ran towards the wall that had just been opened by the other guard and ran through the small opening as the Indominous Rex followed them and broke through the wall. Owen was quick to pull her under the nearest car as they tried not to make too much noice.
As the Indominous Rex got closer they noticed the guard that was sat at the front of the car next to theirs, trying to steady his breathing but soon the Indominous Rex flipped the car towards them and the guard was gone.
Hayley squeezed her eyes shut as the Indominous Rex got closer. Hayley opened her eyes after a moment and looked at Owen, who gave a small smile. Hayley smirked slightly as she grabbed the knife from his pocket at cut the fuel line, coating them in diesel. The Indominous Rex sniffed the air close to them but walked away instead.
Owen sighed in relief as he looked at Hayley, "Remind me to never underestimate you."
"And don't you forget it, Grady." Hayley smirked.
"I need to see a badge. Sir, I need to see a badge." The security guard spoke as he tried to stop them.
Owen had grabbed Hayley's hand as he looked at Claire, "What the hell happened out there?"
"Sir."
"There are thermal cameras all over that paddock. She did not just disappear!" Hayley spoke in disbelief to her best friend. She couldn't believe she didn't tell her about the Indominous Rex and was perfectly fine standing by and letting it all happen.
"It must have been some kind of a technical malfunction." Claire spoke calmly.
"Were you not watching? She marked up that wall as a distraction. She wanted us to think she escaped!" Hayley practically yelled at Claire as Owen wrapped an arm around her to calm her down, not that it was working.
"Hold on. We are talking about an animal here."
"A highly intelligent animal." Owen practically growled as he looked at Claire while rubbing a soothing hand up and down Hayley's back as she continued to fume in anger.
"400 meters to the beacon." Vivian spoke.
"You're going after her with non-lethals." Owen asked in disbelief.
Mr. Masrani looked at the, "We have $26 million invested in that asset. We can't just kill it."
"Those men are gonna die." Hayley whispered as she looked at Owen who knew she was right.
"300 meters to the beacon."
"You need to call this mission off right now." Hayley spoke to Claire but she clearly wasn't listening.
"They're right on top of it."
"Call it off right now." Owen spoke.
"You are not in control here!" Claire yelled. Owen's eyes widened in shock while Hayley looked at her best friend in betrayal.
"Blood's not clotted yet. It's close." Spoke the leader of the assault team.
"What is that?" Mr. Masrani asked.
"That's her tracking implant. She clawed it out." Hayley explained as Owen still had his arms wrapped around her.
"How would it know to do that?" Claire asked in confusion.
"She remembered where they put it in." Owen elaborated as Hayley looked at him. They were screwed and they both knew it.
"Evacuate the island." Owen ordered as they all watched the chaos in front of them.
"We'd never reopen." Claire spoke.
"You made a genetic hybrid, raised it in captivity. She is seeing all of this for the first time. She does not even know what she is. She will kill everything that moves." Hayley explained as she stepped away from Owen but intertwined their fingers.
"Do you think the animal is contemplating its own existence?" Mr. Masrani questioned.
"She is learning where she fits in the food chain, and I'm not sure you want her to figure that out. Now, Asset Containment can use live ammunition in an emergency situation. You have an M134 in your armory. Put it on a chopper and smoke this thing!" Owen practically demanded.
"We have families here. I'm not gonna turn this place into some kind of a war zone." Claire glared at Owen while Hayley shook her head in disbelief of the way her friend was acting.
"You already have." Hayley spoke while looking at Claire.
"Miss. Mitchell, Mr. Grady, if you're not gonna help, there's no reason for you to be in here." Claire spoke to the two of them. Hayley glared at her best friend before walking towards Mr. Masrani.
"I would have a word with your people in the lab. That thing out there, that's no dinosaur." She spoke to him before following Owen into the elevator.
Owen grabbed her hand, "We will get through this."
"I'm holding you to that, Mr. Grady."
