I did not dream well while I slept. I only saw the sinister smiles, the fingers like knives cutting deeper into me, the whispers haunting the air, filling my mind with nothing but terror, and I screamed until my throat was raw, but no sound came out. I suddenly jolted awake to find myself not in my room, but on a hospital bed. I looked around and tried to lift myself up, but an intense pain scattered across both of my arms and took the air from my lungs. I dropped back down in agony. Only then did I notice the several claw marks on me. My nails were red among the ends of them. Did I do this? I asked myself. I heard a cough next to me, and I turned to see a masked figure holding a gun lazily on their lap. Blood had dripped on to their gloves. They noticed my staring and looked at me. They removed their mask to show a boy, only a few years older than Hudson, with blood dried onto his nose and bottom lip. I then noticed his eyes, which were darker than any shade I've seen. Blood was drawing a thin line starting from his eye down to the end of his chin. I then realized who he was. The one I killed that night. The one who killed my mother. My mouth curled into a snarl as I tried to reach for his throat. But he vanished as soon as I moved. An illusion. I thought. I heard an intense and repetitive noise from a monitor next to me. I saw and felt that my pulse was quickening. Quick and light footsteps interrupted my thoughts as someone approached me. A doctor, they must've seen my heart rate spike. I evaluated. They went to a cart next to me and started preparing a syringe. A depressant, most likely a tranquilizer to slow you down. The intense noise emitted from the monitor again. The edges of my vision were filled with stars as they drew closer. "I'm fine." I managed to say, but it came out as a snarl. They still came towards me. "I said I'm fine." I repeated harshly. My hearing was deafened with white noise as I said that, and as they were about to inject me with the medicine, I grabbed the doctor's arm and retrieved the syringe. I shattered the glass tubing in my fist. Blood dripped to the floor as the glass sank deeper into my hand. I looked at the doctor. Their eyes wide in bewilderment. Good, be afraid! I commanded in thought. I wanted to hurt them, to cut their throat with the broken syringe. I, instead, dropped them. Their eyes still focused on me with fear as I managed to get up. I ripped the IV out of my arm and walked out to the waiting area.
Hudson was the first to stand, but when he saw my bleeding hand and arm, he didn't dare move towards me. Elise looked at me with concern. She notices my tension, what I've done. I thought. I growled. "Where are my belongings?" I asked with unintentional force. I inhaled and asked again in a softer tone. Diana held up a small bag containing my clothes. I grabbed them and walked to the nearest bathroom to change as well as get the glass out of my hand. When I went to return, however, I saw the doctor speaking with them. I hid behind a wall and listened.
"...must be observed closely. With what happened, it must explain his outburst, his hostility towards us. I'm not saying to watch him 24/7, but, make sure that doesn't happen again. I know what he is. I won't jeopardize his safety, but if he cannot control himself, I won't have another choice."
"He can't be turned over to Helix, who knows what they'll do to him! I've heard they've been experimenting on mages for their powers, but instead created monstrosities! I will not let that be his downfall!" I heard Diana reply sharply.
"He's dangerous. Too dangerous. The best thing to do is get it over with." The doctor muttered as he left. I heard Diana mutter under her breath as he did. I walked towards the others once he vanished from sight. "I think it's time we leave. I've never been a fan of hospitals." I muttered. Hudson stared at me, then turned his gaze to the ground. Diana nodded. Elise stayed silent. I looked at them, hardness covering my face like a mask. "Let's go." I said again more coldly. Elise flinched, surprised by my tone, and grabbed my hand slowly. I pulled my hand away instantly, knowing what she did before, but she looked at me apologetically and grabbed hold again. I felt a calming warmth slowly coursing through me. A chorus of voices rang into my ears, trying to block out the tranquility she is pulsing through me. Kill her! Kill them all! Make them suffer! They screamed. The warmth finally shrouded the voices. Bliss began to fill my thoughts as I relaxed into her arms. She stroked the ridges of my back as she directed her vision towards Diana. "I can keep him calm, don't worry. He'll be okay with me." She said softly. Diana looked unsure, and Hudson nodded. Elise kept stroking me, speaking words of comfort into my ears and thoughts. I felt a faint pressure in my chest as I sensed a darkness pushing against her power. It seemed to be losing, or so I thought. I suddenly pushed her away. It pushed her away. "Stop trying to subdue my power! It's mine!" It growled. Elise grabbed my hands again. "Fight it, Evan. Please..!" she pleaded. It shook my head, rejecting her words. It broke free of her grasp and prepared to strike until Hudson suddenly pinned me to the floor. "I'm sorry, buddy. I can't let you do that." He said in a low, warning tone. Elise cupped her hands over my cheeks. "Come back, Evan." She pleaded once more. I felt the pressure lighten as I inhaled deeply, once again claiming control. I stared at them blankly. Everything was a blur. What.. happened? I asked myself. Elise still had her hands to my cheeks, their warmth filling me, silencing the voices once more. I relaxed into her again. Once he made sure I didn't hurt anyone, Hudson got off of me. Elise smiled softly. She nodded to Hudson, and he picked me up and set me over his shoulder. Elise held my hand, hoping to keep the calming aura flowing within me. She grabbed Diana's hand with her free hand, and Diana grabbed Hudson's. Elise muttered something incoherent as we suddenly appeared back at the house. I then noticed my craving for sleep and unfortunately recalled my nightmare and shuddered. Elise looked at me. "I will stay by your side until you sleep peacefully." She said. I smiled, but stayed silent. I noticed something behind her. A silhouette was staring back, their eyes no longer a dull shade of gray, but a pool of dark black. The whites of their eyes were replaced with the same blackness. It stared for awhile until Elise noticed my attention was turned to it. She turned around to find nothing more than white snow.-=-{:[OXO]:}-=-
She decided to go to the lower chambers. Her power seeming to hover around her. The shadows cackling at her superiority, You have done it, the humans fear you. They tremble beneath your feet. Isn't that all you wanted? They ask. She smiles at the thought of seeing them suffer, but another thought settles in: Would they accept this life? Would they have done the same? She pauses at the thought. She sighs. "If I cannot save my husband, I will save my daughter." She said firmly. She then teleported to a small tower that a gang has claimed for themselves earlier. She walked in. As soon as the first gang members stood, she froze them in ice. She grabbed a lone member by their tunic and lifted them to face her. "Where is she?!" She asked. They were either too surprised, or too scared, to speak. "Useless." She muttered as she encased him in ice as well. She saw a flight of towering stairs. She teleported to the top and saw a figure holding a small child in their arms. They turned to face her, a dagger in hand. They poised themselves to attack. She immediately teleported behind them, grabbed the child, along with the dagger, and kicked them forward, bones crushing in the impact. She saw the figure crumple to the floor, then get up as if the attack missed them. She heard bones snapping back into place and saw the figure muttering. They looked at her with unnaturally shaded blue eyes. They extended a hand towards her. "I was merely protecting the child. I knew of the king's plans and retrieved her. She's beautiful, isn't she, Vanessa?" They said. They walked into the sunlight to reveal a girl no older than herself. The girl smiled. She was taken aback as the voice swarmed her mind, noticing her fear of the girl. "You were injured. I saw it! I broke your bones" She exclaimed. The girl only smiled, a smile she wouldn't recognize coming from her. "A trick. I know it isn't her! I know one of your gang members were a mage!" She said. "Correction," The girl implied. "I am a witch." The girl raised her hand towards the Rouge Mage, and a sphere of fire began to form from her palm.
