Prologue - The Mage

I'm sure people would only have two or three vague recollections of my hometown, but, to me, there are a lot more, like my first friend ever since I moved here about 5 years ago, or my near death because assassins decided to bomb my house, but let's start from the top so I don't bore you. Oh, wait.. I forgot to introduce myself, stupid me. I am Evan, Evan Riley; a normal boy with a not-so-normal life and a secret, but you've probably read my file. (Helix spies, I know you're reading this too,) So let's dive right in.

First off, I know what you're thinking. "Why would I ever pick up a book like this?" To answer that undoubtedly hurtful question, it's because there's quite a story to tell. Romance, Sci-fi, Magic, an occasional can of whoop-butt, and a few puns to throw along this mostly serious novel.

Oops, one more thing, you saw the word "magic" from above, didn't you? That's the "secret" about me, I'm a descendant of the mages Durante the Bold and Vanessa the Rogue. Durante has mastered teleportation and pyrokinesis, or the ability to control fire, and Vanessa has a multitude of abilities ranging from telepathy, telekinesis, Chronokinesis (the ability to control time), Reality warping, elemental manipulation, and etc. She's basically able to manipulate any and all of the universe around her, but to an extent. Let's just say I only have at least two to three of Vanessa's abilities and most of Durante's. I tend to keep all of that on the down-low, but you also saw the words "Helix" and "Spies". Well, that's a story for another time, meaning this book in your hands, on your laptop, and any other form of reading known to man, now let's begin.
