“Jesus Christ I’ve been waiting 100 years.” Niall barely waits for me to get into the car before he’s pulling out of the driveway.

“Why do you suddenly care?” I’m not in the mood for Niall complaining on a Monday morning. He doesn’t answer and instead grunts and turns the music to max. A variety of “todays hits and yesterdays favorites,” really just annoying songs that will ring in your head all day, play through the speakers to drown out any chance of conversation. I guess I don’t have to worry about hearing Niall complain.

First second and third period pass in a blur of Tumblr and thoughts of Harry. I haven’t seen him in school yet, where could he be? My mind shows me images of him under the staircase with his hand up the shirt of some slut. My stomach twists. He wouldn’t do that, would he? It crosses my mind that I’ve barely known him for a week… I’m interrupted from my thoughts from the sound of a deep laugh.

“I miss you too babe, I miss your lips…” I hear coming from down the hallway. What the fuck? I turn the corner to see who it is, then realize that there’s no knowing what I’m about to see… to my relief its just Liam talking on the phone.

“Wednesday is too far away, I need you now..” I cough and his head shoots over in my direction.

“I have to go I’ll see you soon bye.” He says into the phone and hangs up.

“Were you like listening to me?” He asks with a glare.

“I could hear you down the hall…” I begin. He glares at me again. “No.” I say. It’s easier than trying to complain that I had overheard rather than listened in. Even though I had done that, too.

“Good.” He walks out the red doors into the parking lot. What was that about? Liam Payne has barely ever talked to me, actually, never talked to me, and here he is acting like we’re sworn enemies. Damn, there’s something up all of the athlete’s asses today.

I get into the car with Niall at the end of the day, still having not seen Harry.

“Did you by any chance have any classes with Harry today?” I ask Niall trying to sound casual. He sighs and rolls his eyes.

“No Abby. I didn’t see lover-boy once today.” That’s weird, I wonder where he could’ve been the whole day.

Niall’s phone begins to ring.

“Hey babe,” He answers. On the other end I can hear frantic whining and something about a dress and not fitting.

“Lilly, it’s ok, homecoming isn’t for 2 weeks.” More whining.

“I was planning on just wearing jeans and a polo…” Screaming from the other end of the phone makes me burst out in laughter. This chic is something else.

“A POLO NIALL?!” I can hear her clearly now.

“WHY WOULD YOU SHOW UP TO HOMECOMING IN A POLO AND JEANS?!”

“Lilly, its just homecoming not prom.”

“BUT JEANS? You’re ridiculous.”

“Can we not talk about this right now Lil? Like I said we have two weeks. And its just. homecoming.”

There’s a beeping as the call ends. I’m holding in my laughter. Niall is silent.

“I dare you to show up in basketball shorts.” I say, I can’t help but crack a joke. I see the side of his mouth curve into a smile but he tries to hide it.

“If only.” He mumbles. We’re silent for the rest of the ride.

When we get home I notice Harry’s massive escalade is missing from the side of the road. Is he still at school? I doubt it.

“You can come over if you want but I have to leave in 20 for practice.” Niall says and I deny the offer. I just want to sit on my couch and watch TV alone for a while. The day passes and at 9 I go outside to grab something from my Mom’s car. I cant help but notice Harry’s car is still missing, along with Maura’s. I wonder how Niall feels about sleeping in the house alone. Not that its anything new, just now that its 2 people missing instead of one.
