"So, are you going to tell me already or not?" Alyssa asked as she began to grow impatient.

"Not until the coast is clear," BamBam replied as he scanned the corridors making sure there was no one insight.

"Why do we need the coast to be clear?"

He heaved a sigh before looking at her.

"If anyone sees me with you, they'll know your zodiac."

"How?" She furrowed her eyebrows.

"Because almost everyone in here knows my zodiac."

"Why? Didn't you tell me that if someone finds out my zodiac they'll kill me? Why aren't you dead yet?"

"I'm in the highest class, Alyssa, meaning I've been here longer than everyone else...Well, with the exception of one. There's only two people in the class; me and this other guy that I'll tell you about later."

"What happened to everyone else?"

"He killed them."

"WHAT?! Why?"

"You really know nothing?" BamBam asked, shocked.

"Well, no one really told me anything."

BamBam sighed.

"The world overpopulated and this is probably just some way to get rid of a whole lot of us. However, at the same time, there have been attacks from outer space and as humans we need a strong, capable army to go against whoever is in charge of those attacks. So that's why we're sent here. Every sixth of October, we are to fight for survival in an arena for twelve hours straight. People with the same zodiac as you are your allies and people with a different one, are enemies."

Alyssa's eyes widened a fraction before she glance down at her covered wrist and then at his. BamBam obviously noticed this and pulled his sleeve up.

"Don't worry, I'm a Taurus."

"So we're allies?"

"Yep...and you are very lucky! Just imagine if I wasn't."

"That's a relief...but how does everyone know your zodiac?"

He huffed as he clutched his fists, anger seeping in.

"Chris," he whispered through gritted teeth.

"Chris?" She questioned but he simply shook his head.

"That story's for another day...but keep that name in mind."

"Why?"

"Everyone knows about him here...and everyone fears him."

The moonlight shone through the window, casting absurd shadows on the ivory walls as it shone passed the opaque objects that sat on the desk.

Alyssa gazed up at her ceiling as questions invaded her mind. She wanted answers but knew they were probably scarce.

She pulled up her sleeve and stared at the swollen mark before sighing loudly. It wasn't easy to fall asleep when she felt like the prey in a place full of lions. She was happy she had BamBam but she knew she needed to find more allies. But the real question was, how?

She twisted and turned in the hard bed several times before she finally gave up and glanced at the clock that hung on the wall.

"Midnight," she mumbled under her breath before finally getting out of bed and switching her light on.

Gazing around the room, her eyes finally landed on a thick book. She sighed before running a hand through her hair and grabbing it.

She flipped through the book of rules for a while wondering if there just so happened to be answers in there, but there was none.

She glanced once again at the clock, realising only five minutes had passed. There was nothing for her to do so she simply decided to sit on her bed and read through the book thoroughly, at least she would have something to pass the time.

Beep beep. Alyssa awoke to the sound of an alarm. She groaned loudly as she pulled herself off the bed, realising she had fallen asleep while reading the rule book.

She scratched her head as she yawned, gazing around the room to find where the noise was coming from.

Outside, she realised after turning her whole room upside down while trying to find the noise that had disturbed her peaceful slumber.

She opened the door a fraction, glancing out only to see teenagers walking in two lines, either sides of the walls, all staring forward.

"What the heck?" She questioned as she stared at them. They all looked like either soldiers without a uniform or robots, she could never tell the difference though. All she wanted to do at that moment was fall back asleep. But with the ear-splitting alarm on, was that even possible?

She closed her door again as she headed to her bed but it wasn't long until there was a loud bang in her door.

"Miss Alyssa Kent! Don't make me go in there!" She heard an unfamiliar voice yell.

Immediately, she shot up from the bed and ran to the door, opening it to reveal an elderly lady with distinct facial features and a short, white bob.

"What's going on?" Alyssa asked, deeply confused.

"Miss Kent! You aren't even dressed? My goodness," the lady sighed, shaking her head. "Get changed quickly and head downstairs for practice! You've already missed breakfast."

Alyssa closed the door once the lady had left to scold the other teenagers who hadn't left their rooms.

Everything confused her. She wasn't sure what was going on. But one question in specific was floating around her mind.

"What does she mean by practice?"
