"Hello, this is Jane Meyer. You are listed as Erin Lindsays emergency contact. Is that correct?"
"Oh my god. What happened. Is she okay?", Kim screamed into her phone and jumped up from her seat, rushing to the door.
"She collapsed in the cafeteria of Chicago Med. The second time today and we just wanted to inform you we'll be keeping her over night.", the nurse stated with empathy in her voice. She knew how tightly police units were usually knit.
"Guys, Erin's in the hospital. I'm going there now.", Kim shouted over her shoulder and bolted out.
"Thank you Mrs. Meyer, I'll be right in.", she said before hanging up.
Kim heard several pairs of footsteps approaching her fast.
Voight was the first one to speak up. "Kim? What happened? Where's Erin??"
"I'm so sorry, Sarge, she didn't want me to tell you she was here. I told her that Jay had been shot and she took the first flight out.", Kim confessed while the whole team walked to the cars. "And I don't know apparently she collapsed twice today and they want to keep her for observation."
"Alright, it's not your fault, Kim, I know how secretive she can be.", Voight told her and stopped at the counter.
"We'll be out for some time, Erin was hospitalized.", he said to the desk Sergeant and then they finally left for the hospital.
"She'll be fine, Kim, you know that she's as tough as nails.", Adam patted her on the back reassuringly. She leaned into his touch, taking up all the familiarity and comfort this gesture had, before they got into separate cars and sped off to the hospital.
