I sighed at the second vibration. Why do people call me when I'm at work? I ignored my phone, politely smiling at the customer I was helping before my train of thought was lost.

"Sorry. I got a little distracted. I think the shirt would match, yes, but I think a different color would match better. Try this color!"

I suggested the same shirt in a nice turquoise, as opposed to the burgundy that she had picked out. The customer was delighted.

"Thank you so much, (Y/N)! I'll try this on right away!"

I smiled and nodded. As soon as she lost eye contact with me, the smile dropped. I don't smile unless I'm with a customer.

A text message. I'll check it after my shift.

I looked at my watch. 3:30 pm. Well shit, my shift was done half an hour ago. No wonder. I quickly headed toward the back, hoping that no other customer would spot me and keep me from going home. Today was a lucky day. Once I stayed 3 hours late because two girls came in having no idea what they were looking for, but they needed it for a party. What a nightmare.

I hugged my best friend Callie, who I met here, and told my boss that I was leaving after I gathered my things. Then, I headed out to my car, checking my text on the way there.

Ian: Ayy (N/N) we're going to Dave 'N Buster's. Coming with?

Ian and I had been friends since the end of my freshman year. He was my best friend now, and we usually hung out after work. I was about to text back, but when I looked up, a car was speeding toward me. I shrieked and ran out of the way. The driver stopped when they barely missed me.

I turned around and squinted at the license plate. Oh fuck...

"SHIT! I almost hit you that time!" A deep voice yelled as he hit the side of his car.

George, dickweed of the year. A title he always won, with no contest. I hated him for as long as I knew Ian. Maybe even longer. But I had to put up with him because he was friends with Ian.

"ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY!?" I stomped my foot as I shouted at him.

"I am," he smirked,"but it doesn't hurt to do the world a little favor, does it?"

I stomped my foot again, screaming as I did so. Then I shook my head and decided to let it go so I could get into my car, which was 5 feet away.

"Don't text and walk next time!" He shouted as he drove off.

I clenched my jaw and opened the driver's side door, sitting in my seat and closing it after me. Then, I texted back.

 Then, I texted back
