Chapter 20

The room was cold and all I could think about was how much I wanted to kill Jade. I grabbed her hair and yanked on it violently while she struck me repeatedly in the face. By the time someone had finally pulled us apart, my left eye was pulsing and Jade’s lip was dripping with blood. Harry’s hand wrapped around my arm and I immediately felt warmth. He looked at me with concerned eyes and shook his head.

“Don’t do this, she’s not worth it.”

I glared at Jade who still had an arrogant smile on her face despite the fact that she was bleeding. She placed her hands on her hip and then moved one step closer to me and Harry.

“Is that all you got?” She laughed, “This fight just got started, honey.”

My hands trembled as my anger grew stronger. I tried to charge at her, but Harry’s hold on me was so tight that I couldn’t move.

“Let me go Harry.” I said.

“Paris, just drop it…Please.” He grabbed me protectively by the hand, “I don’t want to see you get hurt.”

“I’m already hurt!” I yelled, pointing at my eye which wouldn’t even open. Harry seemed startled by my harsh tone, but I didn’t care. All I wanted was to make Jade suffer. This girl hated me for no reason and she was finally going to get payback for it. I felt Harry release his grip on my hand and then I ran toward Jade. I threw a punch in the direction of her face and she dodged it with ease.

“You’re weak.” She said, and then her fist came crashing into my nose. I fell to the ground and buried my face in my hands. When I finally looked up I saw that my palm was filled completely with blood. Taisie came rushing after me and within seconds she was by my side.

“What the hell is going on over here?” She asked, wiping away the blood with a napkin, “Are you okay, Paris?”

I swatted her hand away and got back on my feet.

“I’m fine.” I mumbled, “I can handle myself.”

“Are you serious? You can’t even open your eye!”

I tried to open my eyelid to prove that she was wrong, but I couldn’t so I kept it shut. The room was starting to look like a haze and the only person’s face I could make out was Harry’s. I opened my mouth to respond to Taisie when I felt someone kick me in the back of the leg causing me to fall backward. I looked to see who it was and saw that it was one of Jade’s friends. She laughed and then stood next to Jade and four other girls.

“Are you done making a fool of yourself?” She said.

I got up and dusted the dirt off my pants.

“Not yet.”

They all looked at each other and then came charging at me. Each one of them kicked me repeatedly in the stomach and for a second I thought I was going to die.

“Get off her!” I heard Harry say, but I couldn’t see him. The pain was so severe that I had to close my eyes in order to take it. Blood ran down my nose as I took another blow to the face.

“Harry, stop them!” I heard Taisie yell, and then there was silence. It was quiet enough that I could hear myself whimpering, and then I realized that Taisie had revealed our secret.
