Chapter 22

I stood still as Jade stared at me with those cold eyes of hers. I could feel myself shrinking under her gaze, but I kept my composure. Harry wrapped his arm around my waist as Jade pulled a camcorder from her pocket.

“Admit you did it.” She said, stuffing the camera in my face.

I pushed it away and frowned.

“What are you talking about?”

Taisie stepped in front of me and attempted to snatch the camera from Jade, but she tripped and fell flat on her face instead. I ran over to help her as she slowly got up and dusted off her pants.

“What the hell, Jade?” I yelled, trying to grab onto the camera myself, but she held onto it with a tight grip. Her eyes remained locked on mine as I relied heavily on Harry to maintain my balance. His hands were placed on both sides of my hips as if to keep me from falling over and it was working. If it weren’t for him I would have probably been face down on the ground by now. My body was completely numb and more than anything I wanted to run home and cry. This party had turned into a huge disaster that should have never happened in the first place. I wanted to show everybody up by bringing Harry, but in the end I was the one who ended up hurt. As much as I didn’t want to believe it, I was starting to feel like I deserved to get jumped by those girls. I pulled away from Harry and took a few steps toward Jade hoping to calm her down a bit, but all I did was make things worse.

“Admit you did it.” She said.

I crossed my arms over my chest trying hard to hide my confusion.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

She paced around me before finally stopping an inch away from my face. Her breath was hot and more than anything she needed a mint.

“You’re the one who told everyone about what I did.” She said, emphasizing every word.

I took a step back and thought about what she had said. Eventually I came to the conclusion that she was a crazy woman.

“And what exactly is it that you did?”

“Jade, she doesn’t remember. Just drop it.” Taisie said.

“Well, I’m going to make her remember!” Jade yelled.

Just then a familiar car pulled up in the driveway. It took me a while, but eventually I realized that it was Niall’s car. He honked the horn twice before getting out and approaching us. His blonde hair was pushed back and he wore a t-shirt with jeans.

“What is going on here?” I heard him say.

I looked at Harry and he grabbed my arm, pulling me straight towards the car.

“Nothing, let’s go.”

I got in the car and buckled my seatbelt before seeing Taisie with her forehead pressed against the window. I assumed that she wanted a ride so I opened the door to let her in. Once Niall had started the car my mind wouldn’t stop searching for answers. Of course I didn’t know what Jade was talking about, but that was only because of my memory loss. I sunk deeper in my seat because I was suddenly afraid of myself. Taisie must have seen my worried expression because she grabbed my hand as if to calm me down.

“It’s ok, Paris.” She said, “I’ll explain everything.”
