Chapter 21

Everyone stood still as Harry scooped my bruised body up into his arms. He looked at Jade and her friends in disgust and then carried me to one of the upstairs bedrooms. I was laid out on the bed when Harry took a huge bag of ice and held it against my left eye.

“What were you thinking?” He asked, shaking his head. “They might’ve killed you if I wasn’t there.”

I looked up at him with my one good eye.

“Maybe.”

He slowly removed the ice from my face and then sighed.

“Paris, I know you said those girls were mean, but I didn’t think it would be like this.”

He grabbed my hand and led me to a full length mirror in the corner of the room. When I looked into it I couldn’t believe that I was the one standing there. My left eye was purple and swollen and bruises were forming along my arms and legs. I turned around and wrapped my arms around Harry’s neck.

“I can’t believe I let them do this to me.” I sobbed.

He held onto me tighter and then pulled away.

“It’s not your fault.” He said, brushing away my tears.

“I just don’t understand why they hate me so much. I haven’t done anything to them.”

Harry was about to say something when I heard a knock at the door, he walked over to answer it and Taisie stood there with a frantic expression on her face.

“Paris, we have to get out of here.” She said, grabbing my arm.

I stopped her and crossed my arms.

“Why?”

“Jade and her friends are looking for you.”

I glanced at harry who’s hand was now closed over mine.

“She’s right. We need to leave.”

Taisie handed me my purse and then we all snuck out of the backdoor of the house. When we got to Harry’s car my mouth fell open. I bent down to inspect the tires and saw that someone had slashed every single one of them.

“We’re screwed.” Taisie said.

I gave her a look and then walked over to Harry who seemed like he was going to explode at any second. I placed my arm over his shoulder and kissed him lightly on the cheek.

“We can fix this.” I said.

He gave me a concerned look before pulling out his phone and dialing a number.

“Who are you calling?”

“Niall, he has a car.”

I nodded and then noticed Jade who was standing on the porch looking directly at us. She smiled slightly before approaching us.

“I hope you’re not running away from us, Paris.” She said mockingly.

I almost kicked her but Harry’s protective hold kept me back.

“Leave her alone.” I heard Taisie say.

Jade laughed and the sound echoed through my ears. Never in my life had I heard a voice so evil. I released myself from Harry’s grasp and took one step closer to her.

“Leave me alone, Jade.” I said, “What have I ever done to you?”

She hunched over in laughter and for a second I thought she was mentally ill.

“What have you done to me?” She asked, “Paris, you ruined my life.”
