Yes, that's right, I was standing in front of Brian May. Again. And honestly I didn't really understand how that was possible, so I was partly expecting this to be a dream.
"What are you doing here? You didn't follow me, did you?"
Great, way to seem creepy, well done Frida. I quickly shook my head. "Uhm... no. Of course not. I mean, I like you and all but that would be taking it too far," I told him, keeping my eyes on the notebook. "I... I was in a shop earlier and a little girl found this and gave it to me and ... uhm.." I opened it and showed him the first page. "It says to return it to this address... that is here, isn't it?" If it wasn't I'd seem like the biggest fool ever.
But apparently Brian knew what I was talking about because his eyes widened and he took the notebook from me. "Yes," he exclaimed. "Oh thank god... thank you so much. You have no idea how relieved I am," he told me and sighed heavily. "This is... well, it's the notebook for my ideas, songs, melodies, lyrics, all that I put in here and I couldn't find it anywhere earlier, I was freaking out a little."
I didn't really know what to say, because honestly, what should I say?
"Funny coincidence that you're the one who found it," he pointed out with a smile. "Thank you so much for coming all the way out here."
"Of course," I managed to say. "It's... I honestly didn't expect this... I can't believe you're right there..." I shook my head, my cheeks heating up a little. "I'm sorry, that's really weird to say."
"It's okay," he said amused. "Would you like to come in for a cup of tea? It's the least I can do after everything."
"Tea?" I asked him in a squeaky voice.
"Yeah. O-Or not, don't feel obliged to say yes. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to get away."
I shook my head quickly. "No, uhm... tea... I wouldn't say no to a cup of that," I told him with a small smile. I wasn't going to say no to an offer like that, who would? Brian May. It was Brian May who was inviting me to have a drink with him in his house. Not even in my wildest dreams would I ever have thought that something like that could ever happen. I'd never even thought that I'd meet him. And now he knew my name, that was more than a dream come true.
But I didn't want him to think of me as the crazy creepy fan girl because as much as that might have been true, I knew that he was a person too and he probably would prefer to be treated like one, so I was going to do my best no matter how hard that might turn out to be. He wasn't all that normal, but I would try to treat him as if he was. He deserved that because he seemed like a true sweetheart and I really didn't want to offend or upset him. But I knew that was going to be hard but I had to try.
"Well.. then come in, please." He held the entrance door open for me and stepped aside. "Be careful, there may be toys lying around. I... I had the kids until earlier and I haven't gotten a chance to tidy yet," he pointed out, bending down to pick up a doll that seemed to have fallen to the ground. "It's a little chaotic, I'm sorry, I wasn't expecting company."
He seemed stressed, and uneasy... "I don't have to have a cup of tea if this is a bad time for you, I would totally understand. You're a busy man and I don't want to intrude. You have your notebook back, and that's what matters. Be honest with me, don't worry. I wouldn't judge you."
He gave me a small, slightly tired smile and shook his head. "No, it's okay. It would be good for me to just sit down and not do anything for a while. And really, it's the least I can do after all I did. I can't believe you really came all the way here to give me the notebook. I really appreciate that, you know, it's not a natural thing for people to care that much. I can imagine a lot of people would just have ignored it."
