Betrothed To Him
Chapter Ten: ❧
Lana Houstan P.O.V
I become conscious of a strange buzzing noise in my right ear, and then felt a brief dizziness again. It felt like my head was on a malfunctioning spinning wheel, spinning, faster and faster, not slowing down.
I slowly opened my eyes and regained my focus on flashing red and green lights, shifting closer together for a moment, then the green light winks out. Then the red light is visible, then it too is gone. I turned my face upward toward the sound of the whirling blades.
The noise grew louder and louder, I stare at the spot in the sky where I last saw the lights, then I realize what has happened.
I look down at my hands confused.
I wasn't blindfolded.
I wasn't tied.
My mouth wasn't taped.
A gentle squeeze on my hand snaps me from my thoughts and I look up to find glowing, emerald green eyes locked onto mine.
Ian, sitting beside me holding a water bottle.
IM ALIVE! I'm not dead.
Everything in that moment stopped and I threw myself at him, hugging him tightly.
I look up to Ian and realise he was saying something he was moving his mouth, but I couldn't quite make out the words. It was a struggle to hear over the noise of the helicopter we were in.
I lean closer and hear him ask if I was okay and I nod. He's facing me again, watching me.
I didn't know how to feel at that exact moment, but it was nothing less than relief. I was relieved.
I glance back to Ian and give him a weak smile and look back through the window. I watch the gray clouds massing and rolling on the horizon, sweeping suddenly terrifyingly across the sky as if to battle.
"Where are we going?" I ask panicking.
"You'll see," He tells me holding both my hands in his. I decide against questioning him further for details and just leave it at that. I still had questions that needed to be answered, but for the moment I decided to keep quiet. I was too tired to ask for more details, I knew wherever we were going was going to be safer than where I was.
