Betrothed To Him
Chapter Two: ❧
Lana Houstan P.O.V
~PRESENT TIME~
I can't believe I'm doing this. *knock* I shouldn't have agreed to this. *knock*
"What?!" I yell frustrated with myself and regret it immediately.
"How are you doing, hun?" Lorene creeps in. Her eyes filled with worry.
I look at the woman who cares for me like her daughter and the closest a mother can be for me. She filled all the holes, blessed me in all the ways my own mother was not able to. Now, I have to lie to her face and pretend everything is okay.
"I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"What does it fucking look like?" I throw both my arms behind my back reaching for the veil and snatch it almost ripping it with my nails.
Way to go with the pretending...
"Careful, sweety," she says as she rubs my arm. I take long deep breaths and try to calm myself down.
I turn to Lorene who was standing behind me and ask for what feels like the millionth time. "How long till this fucking ceremony ends?"
"Uh-h sweety it hasn't even started yet"
I shoot Lorene a death glare. No shit Sherlock.
"It should be in a few minutes, they're just waiting for-"
"Yeah, I don't fucking care, you can stop there." I knew the ending to that sentence. I also needed to calm the fuck down. Lorene has nothing to do with any of this and I'm here being a snobby little bitch. "I just want this day to be over and done with, is that too much to ask for Lorene?" I sigh, placing my fingertips onto my temples.
"You need to calm down Lana. Please try to smile."
"Would you like me to drop a few dance moves or jump for joy? I'm having trouble deciding please help me pick Lorene." I roll my eyes at her, shaking my head. My head wasn't helping either. I push my hands further into my temples, I needed Panadol for my soaring headache right in this instance.
"Your father won't be very happy with these sarcastic comments once he'll get here, you need to be sensible dear"
"I'm the one who's getting fucking married, not my Father " I shake my head at her again.
"Lana, dear. This is not like you at all. Are you sure you're okay?" Lorene pulls me gently to face her.
I press my fingers against my temples hoping to stop the pounding in my head. "Just leave me alone," I tell her turning away. Although, it was hard to do so with my dress tangling between my legs.
"Do you have something to tell me, Lana?" She asks. I was taken aback by her question. Before I could think about her question any longer I get interrupted.
"Oh relax drama queen. It's okay Lorene, she's just a bit... Nervous" I quickly recognize the voice of my younger sister Annie.
"At last, someone with a sane mind is here. Where the fuck have you been" I asked as I turn to see my sister's familiar face dressed in a long grey satin dress holding a bottle of champagne in one hand and an ivory pearl-studded clutch in the other.
"Oh why thank you, my love, and well you know... I was preparing for my sister's grand wedding in case you didn't know. I also wrote down the best goddamn speech for the maid of honor- who is obviously me" I roll my eyes at such nonsense.
