Gradually Accepting You

Notes for the reader

As you go through the story, you may experience some confusion. This is a note page simply for the reader to have a better understanding of some of the structures, terminology, or scenes in the story. Since this is set in the future, you might want to read through this page and should reference it if you are struggling to understand something. Understand though, that what you are about to read below, may reveal spoilers for the story. I'd also like to give you a warning that if you do not feel comfortable or are offended with homophobic slurs, there is some included in this story. It is not meant to hurt or offend anyone. I am not in any way homophobic or do not discriminate those who are in the lgbtq+ community. Its purpose is to build anger, emotions, and a good understanding of things that actually happen in real life.

-Set in 2021

-Although it is set in the future, a lot is still the same as it is now, but some technology is more advanced, and the society portrayed is more harsh.

-If there is any italics used, it indicates a flashback is occurring or the character is thinking to themselves.

-"Brainwashing" is a term used a lot in this story in order to describe a situation, where one's mind is cleared of all the "bad" thoughts. Brainwashing only affects those who have doubts on their sexuality or identify themselves as anything other than the norm (being heterosexual).

-Hetero-enforcement: Law enforcers who arrive when called by a citizen, due to the belief that someone is doubting their sexuality or perform acts that feed to it. These law enforcers come to "brainwash" that person(s) without much hard evidence.

-Those who have been brainwashed do not forget their life, but they can't recall instances or moments where they interacted or thought of those desires.

-When a brainwash occurs, no one can tell the person who is brainwashed what truly happened.

-"Green pill": There is a green pill mentioned in the story, which is not named, but the green pill is used for the process of the brainwashing.

-"Pregnancy pill": There is another pill used in the story, which is almost like a birth control pill, except it is 100% effective on the idea that it prevents pregnancy.

-Circular device + Chip: A futuristic device in which is almost holographic, can play videos, and displays photos in front of you.
