CHAPTER FOUR: Garrets Secret

Kieran awakened from his trip to Limbo, refreshing, everything so clear, so ripe. Kieran thinks. All the information he has makes sense now, all the magical knowledge, his own history. Kieran gets up and does the usual routine and runs downstairs, picks up the Xarxegram and begins reading through the book his appetite for this forbidden knowledge is exasperating but the book is endless page after page of knowledge and grimoires about "enhancements" and various other powers. I almost forgot I'm going to Garrets place today, doesn't mean I can't try one of these powers, eh spells whatever. Kieran picks a power at random, huh red eyes, what a coincidence I guess I can switch them back when I go back to school tomorrow. there is no array or incantation to do, maybe its a thought thing. Kieran Imagines a vivid red colour but doesn't feel any different. He then try's to imagine the red colour of Ceririans eyes, every aspect of it then, a sizzling noise can be heard and a small bit of blood trickles down Kierans face, much more painful than anticipated  but the pain is worth it to see proper power being used. Kieran runs into the bathroom grabs a towel and rubs the drying the blood from his face "Yes it worked" as he looks at his new vivid crimson eyes in awe.

His minor victory over magic is spoiled by Garrets message to his phone " Hurry up man :P, Can't wait until you get here." Kieran puts the phone into his back pocket, goes into the living room, tucks Xarxegram under his shoulder and leaves his home, the door makes that relaxing chime. Kieran follow the directions to the letter and arrives at a large gate with fencing that stretches for longer than vision can allow, the fencing is fancier than the schools. Kieran pushes the gate open and walks along the cobble road to the monumental mansion. Garret walks out of the embroidered oak doors and runs to Kieran " You made it, I thought you got lost !" he stops and see's Kierans crimson eyes. " What did you do to your eyes" Garret looks pretty angry "Hey hey, its ok i just tested the magic's in the book, it doesn't have any side affect". Garret try's to not show a look reproach to Kieran " You shouldn't have done it at home, do it here no one else is likely to get hurt and also I can protect you if things go wrong" Kieran pats Garret on the shoulder as if to say I know more about this than you do.

Garret accepts this as fact but still wants to make sure Kieran knows what he is doing. " Garret how did you get this house, man its awesome" as Kieran admires the marble carvings along the door's hinges.  Both of them walk into the mansions center room, its more like a grand ball room than a entrance room, a giant chandelier ties the room together nicely. Garret closes the door " My family gave me this mansion and a large fortune but I never met them in person, but I thank them that they gave me something to remember them by" Garret says. Kieran turns around " I guess we are one and the same, I was left at a orphanage in town and was raised there till I earned my house" both have a moment of quiet remembrance of hard times.

Kieran breaks the silence " So what do you do in such a big place?". " I have no idea most of the time, I tend to just study to stop me from eating or walking around each room" Kieran and Garret laugh, it echoes through all the halls. Kieran knows that being here is a way for Garret to protect him, especially since I need to be working on something. Kieran ponders if there's any place where he could work for the next few days on his little  project that, Ciririan too is also working on, well me but from the past, past tense can be awkward when it's yourself your talking about yourself. Kierans tangent, makes Garret feel as though he's not being a good host to his dear friend. " Kieran, dinner will start at 6 o'clock, I need to get to bed early, sadly." Kieran gives a nod " Sure but don't we have the rest of the week off?" "Yes, yes we do Kieran" Garret replies quickly. Garret gives a gesture and Kieran takes it as a "follow me", Garret shows Kieran around the household which took about a hour and a half to do, big mansion easy to get lost in. " And finally" as Garret makes a bowing gesture to the last door, " My favourite room" says Garret. The both open the door to reveal a large swimming pool but in the style of a Roman villa, " Amazing, man you can't live in this house by yourself" Kieran says. Garret gives a shrug as if to say the house is to big for a lot of people, this is immediately follow up upon by the splashing of water and a wave of water hitting Kierans face. Garret has some how managed to remove his clothes except boxers before making a belly splash which the repercussions of are Kierans wet clothes and face, the Xarxegram is magically unscathed.
