"Have you heard the legend of the literature club?"

I stop writing and look up to see a girl with brown eyes followed by brown hair that goes to her shoulders. Her name is Negenama Hirano, my best friend since last year.

"The what now?" I reply in a confused tone.

"The legend of the literature club! The events supposedly happened at this school!" she says with excitement in her tone.

Negenama is quite malleable so it's not uncommon for her to believe those silly things, but I pity her and show interest each time.

"No? What's it about?"

She stares at me with a surprised expression.

"I thought everyone had heard! Well basically is states that there was a literature club created four years ago by a group of seniors, however everything went wrong and they all went missing or died."

I stare at her.

"You actually believe that, Negenama? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Don't you think if it were true more people would know about it?"

"Hakuoh, the entire district knows about it." she replies in a serious tone.

Her serious tone throws me off, mostly because I almost never hear it from her. "Could this actually be real?" I think to myself.

"Who told you the legend in the first place?" I ask her.

"My cousin! He's a senior and actually knew one of the girls in the club. He was a freshman when everything happened and was devastated when he found out about her death, I think her name was Sayori? I know he isn't making it up because I remember him finding out and falling into a depressive state because of it, of course back then I didn't really care though."

"Can I speak to your cousin some time? I'd like to know more about this."

"Yeah of course! You could go to him during lunch or after school, I'll come with you though!" she says with enthusiasm in her tone once more.

I thank Negenama and go back to writing down notes for a book I was reading for a class. I think to myself "Negnama must be crazy to trust her cousin! He's a teenage boy, he's going to lie about that kind of stuff, especially to freshmen like us! However I would like to find out if all of this is fake or not, there's always a chance it could actually be real even if it's only a little portion of what she said. Gosh, I'm letting her influence me a bit too much.".

The lunch bell rings and I stand, time to find out what I can about this stupid legend.
